Winning gap
There was a hobo’s knapsack-load of racing this weekend, and some of it we even found out about.
At the The Capital Region Road Race, Justin Lindine of Target Training wins the Pro/1/2, while Tony Slokar of Adler wins the 3/4 race. Michael Boardman of DKNY gets 2nd in the cat 4. Dave Taylor of Blue Ribbon gets second in the 35+. And Doug O’Neill of Wonder Wheels gets 2nd in the 45+. Alan Atwood posted the long list of complete results on the hopeful page, God bless him.
This may come as a shock, but Will O’Donnell of Westwood Velo wins the overall at the NJ Route 9″ 36 KM TT. Gui Nelessen of Van Dessel is second, but wins the Cat 1/2 title. Plenty of results here.
At the CRCA Points Race, someone won, but I was off to take the kids to the pool (really – no euphemism involved whatsoever) before getting the results, so if you know who won, give it up. At Prospect – judging from the photos – it looked like Gerry Martinez of Global Locate won the masters race, and Paul Burrowes of United won the Pro/1/2? Other finishes not pictured.
Results for the Burlington Tour de Lights, Tour of Flanders, New York State Time Trial, US Bicycling Hall of Fame August Cycling Classic, and Mt. Washington Hill Climb are all yet to be posted, so if you are the state time trial champ or won any of these races, please let us know.
First Bitches!
whistle through his teeth?
Great race and congrats to Adler and Slokar for racing a great race for the win. Also Andrew Bernstein rode super strong but was caught on lap 3 with Slokar staying away.
Seem off. I know that there were two groups on the road and I think Kimball (I was on his wheel the whole race) was in the second chase group behind the group going after Deiter. However, Kimball has a time with the first group. What gives?
Margaret Shirley won the women’s race, Scott Wisenbaker won the A’s, Alvin Poblacion won the B’s, Philip Everet won the C’s. Full results will be posted later today.
but he can hold a newport
That Whitlock Climb (I think that is the name) must be one of the hardest 2 minute efforts of any course around. Going into it out of a 180 degree turn is just brutal. The last little rise is what gets you.
Fun course but definitely for the power climbers.
G. Suter silver, P. Littlefield bronze!
Looks like the 55+ field times beat the 3’s by a wide margin. Viagra?
ellen moses – gold, tom kempner – bronze. congrats to all!!!!!!
You are an idiot. The 3s raced an extra lap. So no the 55plus group raced 2 laps very very slow.
How was Slokar able to win off a solo break? Did nobody chase?
There were 3 in the break for most of it. Tony dropped the others with about 10 miles to go. Peppo and Olsen were all over everything. Everyone else in the pack made a big mistake to let the break go. There were a few teams in the pack who did nothing to bring it back, notably the Physical Therapy team (not sure of real name). There were a lot of stupid downhill attacks.
Short version: strong break, good teamwork by adler, stupid pack.

“How was Slokar able to win off a solo break? Did nobody chase?”
Also – there really were no teams with more than 2 guys in the race. And the pack was only about 35strong after lap 2. So with a strong break, team work and no big teams to pull it back the break stuck.
Give Slokar props for a great ride. He bridged to the break on his own BTW
He has been super strong lately, people who have been paying attention are not too surprised.
I love the Monday Morning comments from the guys who sat home and raced PP again or some stupid CRCA race. Slokar had a great race in one of the tougher out of town races and what does he get… Hate.
Great job Tony!
on Monday mornings from the guys who raced out of town and feel the need to demean park races.
to tony and the rest of adler. that course was brutal and will be in my nightmares until next year…
45+
Tony was strong as hell on Saturday. He did a lot of work to extend our lead after I got the initial gap, and he easily dropped me on one of the last climbs. It was disappointing after riding off the front for 40 miles, to be sure, but props to him all the same!
I’m looking forward to a re-match at Mengoni.
Forgot to mention that you can read my race recap here: http://blue-mondays.blogspot.com/
35plus raced with 45plus = some fast times.

Isn’t Bryan Borgia on a sub-team?
Borgia is pro – proasshit
Slokar is a sanbagger.
discuss.
Slokar was ruled to be in the extremely illegal sandy-v riding position at the Capitol Region Road Race
fourth place in the A race: 1+9=11? huh?
nice work, you’ve reached ‘NYvelocity Sandbagging’ status. Congrats! sounds like a great ride on saturday!
Flokar has been rockin’ races ever since honeys was wearin sassoon
Must be the new word for team work!!!!
Watch out for him at Track States this weekend (assuming he is racing). Him and Harris will lite the track up.
Not too long ago after one of the Rockleigh crits you kinda complained about not getting good results and look now. You are obviously in great shape and racing really well. Congrats!
I hear Tony uses the armpit method which aids his fast finishes. Discuss.

Congrats to all who raced and especially any CRCA riders!
Our Ira Blumberg was 40th overall with a time of 1:11:59. Kudos to him!
Tony Shlokars be a win-bagger, not a sandbagger, Ya heard! RESPECT!
Tony Slokar is a two-bagger.

Tony Slokar is a tea-bagger.
Slokar is looking to cash in on the whole fixie thing:
http://www.jpmartineau.com/iphone/bicycle-gear-calculator/
I see dudes want to get knocked out!
Carpetbagger?
“Slokar drank a full glass of liquid LSD with his eggs. Then he slept for 8 months straight. When he woke he rubbed his eyes and said, ‘All in all, I prefer gin.'”
“We once had a bachelor party for Slokar. He ate the entire cake before we could tell him there was a stripper in it.”
If you drop a phonograph needle on Slokar’s nipple, it plays the Beach Boys’ ‘Pet Sounds.’
Pet Sounds– most the most overrated albums of all time.
Slokar has only one huge skid patch.
Regular skidders always have the same stance, strong foot in the back, when skidding. Ambidextrous skidders are able to do it with their weak foot as well.
from now on can Tony’s nickname be skidpatch?
doing hill repeats up River Rd. with a fridge strapped to his back. That dude is hardcore.

I’m surprised no one brought it up so far–
There was a protest in the 1-2-3 race that lasted more than an hour. I hung around a while, then went to get breakfast. When i returned later to spin around, they were still arguing.
