After spending Saturday night at a keg party, I must rely on the internet to tell me what happened over the weekend. I do know that Alex Bremer from Empire soloed away to win the CRCA A points race, while Sarah Sauvayre of Comedy Central narrowly squeaked out a victory over Alejandra Madrinan of Major Taylor. Matt Richards of NYVelocity won the B race and Leonides Lopez of El Puente won the C race.
Â
Gustavo Artacho of Colavita/Sutter Home won at Mt. Holly, with Eneas Freyre of Target Training second. Then the information stops. No word from Prospect on Saturday or Naugatuck. The internet is holding out on me.
Â
And on a sad note, the man responsible for starting and keeping the Harlem Skyscraper Classic going, David Walker, passed away on Saturday. We would like to send our condolences to David’s family.

This beta site is f-ing everything up man. Nobody knows where to go. Beta’s are supposed to be optional, seems like you’re forcing it a little too hard.
this is a real hotbed of activity…
The numbers say that the site has the same number of visits, it just might be that people are afraid that if they comment, we will be able to steal their souls. Which we can! Do you know how much those “wiener drugs from overseas” guys will pay for souls?
baby cobra is right, there would be at least a little bloodletting by now. what good are pictures without the smack-talk?

How about the good chance of no more racing in prospect because of this jogger attack.
to rashad for winning the 2/3 at mt. holly
There’s a Prospect race this weekend. Any official word or rumors on it?
Does anyone have results from Saturday’s prospect race or have all fields been dq’ed due to reckless riging in the masters field?
no doubt there will be fallout, but I don’t think the rest of the season will be summarily canceled because of this incident. Certainly not this weekend…things move more slowly than that.
Oh yeah? You the worlds foremost expert in “things?” (notice the inside parens question mark). Oooh. Take that!
looks like it makes sense to have the state championships in the middle of nowhere

What happened in PP?
Don’t masters always say they are safer and faster? How they know how important getting to Monday morning in one piece is? What about now?
If we move the State Championship to Watertown, I’m sure I could be state champ.
Yes, because one bad accident certainly negates that. Though the masters field should be cats 1-3 only.
the 4’s that do masters do it because they could give a rats ass about upgrade points-they want to race faster and safer and masters races are just that. they usually don’t have a bunch of yahoos sprinting for 30th-of course there are exceptions-btw, eric is a 3
So when a four hits 35 are they given their ride in a straight line license?
theoretically anything is possible in a bike race.
i don’t remember any other crashes this year in masters, or even last year … anyone else?
definitely not the case in the 4s.
Masters select groups are stronger, spreading out a field of varying fitness. Cat4 fields all seem about the same fitness packing them tighter. More experienced older guys don’t take the same risks as less experienced younger guys.
It seems like there’s a lot of over 35 guys on here defending why masters are so fabulous. Ya crahsed, into a jogger, deal with it. How many cat 4s have crashed into joggers this year? or any elite rider? go drink your ensure and do some laps.
the crash was caused by the first few riders swinging from the right to the left trying to chase a wonder wheel rider who was attempting to take off with 600m to go. the riders behind who were already on the left were forced to brake and squeeze toward the barrel. Eric could not avoid the barrel and fell after hitting it. He skidded quite a bit until hitting the runner. It’s nobody’s fault if not that runners and walkers should stop when the peloton is approching them. As matter of the fact cars and motorbike in PP do not use (most likely cannot use) any acustic device to alert people of the incoming peloton. Unfortunately people who have the last word in Park activities are politicians who do not want to disappoint nobody, so they will always team up with the bigger groups, in this case the park users who cannot be bothered by a bunch of riders. Curiosly roads can be closed for a lot of parades (even questionable) but not for bicycle races!
The comparison among the different group skills is useless since there always be beginners, intermediate and experts level and there is nothing that can be done to improve their skills “on demand”. Viceversa the road conditions could be improved to limit potential accidents.
My 2 cents.
“go drink your ensure and do some laps.” oh my…that is SO funny! did you drag yourself away from facebook to post that? why don’t you just run along and let the grown ups discuss the social/political ramifications of the pedestrian being struck. I hear there are nude pics of Miley Cyrus on TMZ…go get em you piss ant.

“the crash was caused by the first few riders swinging from the right to the left trying to chase a wonder wheel rider who was attempting to take off with 600m to go.”
interesting since major taylor had it strung out and a gap had opened
Either way, it doesn’t matter. You guys ran into a jogger. A jogger running in the “joggers” lane, which technically is the bike lane, but that little detail seems to escape everyone. Way to pass on the blame. Its cool how nobody around here is accountable for their own actions.
Just shut down the final K with barriers. there are already tons in that park, take a gander over at the band shell, there seems to be a few there, I’m sure there’s extra somewhere. Instead of you guys making excuses for why and how exactly he hit someone, how about focusing your energy on how to improve the safety situation. I’m sure the park would be more than willing to allow us to use gates if it means the rec lane is free. And perhaps actually DQ and suspend those that venture into that lane, as it happens over and over every race.
actually one guy ran into a jogger, not ‘you guys,’ and he’s been pretty contrite about it.
are you now arguing over details? He probably wouldn’t have done it alone, and your story seems like he was forced into a road barrel, hence “you guys”
It was a conspiracy.
Wake me up when these guys decide on one site.
trust no one
