There are a lot of results to disseminate this morning, so I’m going to forego any attempts at being clever and just grind through the glory.
At the Lucarelli & Castaldi Cup race on Saturday, John Durso of Colavita Racing won the Pro/1/2/3 race. Misha Chiporukha of Hudson Furniture Racing Team won the cat 4 race, and John Blake of CRCA won the cat 5 race. Results and video interviews of the winners can be found here.
The Tour de Ephrata has results up, but it’s beyond my under-caffienated senses to comprehend whether they only have the results up for Stage 1 or for the overall standings, but some people did well at the TdE, amongst them: Fabienne Gerard of Fuoriclasse Racing-Discover Chiropractic, Pascal Sauvayre of BH/Garneau, Alessandro Matteucci of Finkraft and David Taylor of Fuoriclasse Racing-Discover Chiropractic. The results as they stand are here, if you can ascertain the rhyme or reason there, let me know.
There were a lot of people riding uphill on Saturday at High Point, results are here.
There’s no doubt about Colt’s Neck. Michael Goret of the Watchung Wheelmen won the cat 3 race. Ann Marie Miller of Houlihan-Lokey Sanchez won the women’s cat 1/2/3 race. Gavin Robertson of Foundation won the masters 35+ race. Robert Ryan of the Somerset Wheelmen won the masters 45+ race. Robin Kinney of Pure Energy Cycling-ProAirHFA won the masters 55+ race. Anneliese Haines of CRCA won the women’s cat 4 race. Michael Zak of Team Cosmic won the cat 4 race. Noah Granigan of the Mid-Atlantic Cycling Club won the juniors race. Jordi Conrado of Liberty Cycle won the cat 5 race. Results are here.
The Bennington Race Weekend results are not up as of this writing, feel free to venture to this page and refresh relentlessly all morning.
You can find them all here:

Bravo Alessandro. One of the nicest guys in the NYC peloton.
Hey Schmalz – to get to the Tuesday FBF race on time by car – by what time do you need to hit the West Side Highway?
I hit the WSH at 5 (at the GW bridge), if the traffic is moving along, you get there early. If the traffic is hell, you almost don’t make it. I’ve only had to change in the car once with this route/time.
Since the Granfondo is on this weekend, and not too many racing near by, is it best to avoid 9W? Will we be arrested if we rode along them?
Great race. Very well run. Very challenging stages, great competition and the most scenic road race you will ever ride.
Extremely impressive especially considering it was the first year of the event.
I’m lame with computers and such. For that race I was with JV Racing / Montecci.
Big Whoop
How and when Can I pick up the leaders jersey once I’m points leader?
John Blake to Mengoni
Mengoni to John Blake?
Now that we got bin laden, can we go after the guy who keeps posting mengoni jokes?
nada
…#181 on Joe Papp’s client list
anyone have the results??
Driving back from an out of town race with bikes on roof. After a long and hard weekend.
We stop at a light in the City. Right by an outdoor cafe with some dudes drinking beer/coffee all dressed in spandex and their bikes parked outside. They wave their fists at us..I can hear them go “ya, we did it”. Is this what we will be dealing with on Sunday after Granfondo?
good job – gotta get the sponsors their props. but you didn’t thank your teammates.
Seriously, these jokes need to stop. Mengoni is a great team. I can’t imagine how much they would have crushed the 5 Boro tour if they wanted to. Imagine the hurt those guys would put on over the bridges? I doubt any of you posers could hold their wheel. You probably couldn’t even ride with their Cat 3 squad.
Had none
Mengoni to a 5k charity fun run near you.
You’re one grumpy dude to be looking down at other cyclists enjoying their bikes. If you think racers are too cool for school and above other cyclists, get some humanity man. It’s all good, Granfondo has its audience just like park races or 5 boro. What makes cycling great is our diversity that unites through a simple bike! Shed your ratrace mentality and next time smile back at people smiling at you.
dudette wins the prize for completely, utterly failing to get the joke.
Any pics from this wknds race?

the 5boro along with it’s once-a-year “cyclists” can suck my you know what. Yes were racers and yes were above them, & I know everyone agrees with me. They go on this ride because they need a whole stretch of road closed just so they can ride. Not to mention they know nothing about riding on city streets, and having 263774662 people with ugly-ass green numbers hanging around their necks riding up the west side bike path made my ride down after a long hard day putting in miles on actual hills a total fuck fest. On top of that having been asked “so you did he race Eh?” made me that much more angry and annoyed at these ignorant pricks
This event does nothing to promote cycling nor safe riding. Drivers get angry at all the inconveniences while bicyclists leave with the notion that riding in NYC is only safe when you have an ambulance every 50 feet and closed off roads
Total bullshit.
Yeah, but remember that cops do not care if you are a racer or a bicycle delivery person or a Critical Mass rider.
If you are:
– Critical Mass rider: Cops beat the crap out of you n lock you up
– Racer: They give you a ticket(Same time, same place, a guy in full kit gets a ticket and another guy in plain clothes got nothing
– Delivery Person: Cops try but they give up bc these guys don’t speak English and the cops are too lazy to after the restaurant owners(perhaps they are afraid of not getting their free lunch)
– Messengers: Cops also try but they are too fast to stop them so ultimately they are treated like the critial mass riders
….now
– 5 boro and Sunday warriors:
City wastes tax money providing security, emergency vehicles(do you know that every year 2-5 people die from these rides?). They are protected.
Anyone know where the pics are for Colt’s Neck?

dick
how in the world do 2-5 people die on the 5boro? I’m not questioning your source, it just sounds absurd.
They have a top speed limit of 15 mph. Do you the main cause of their deaths?
So not only does the 5boro not do anything for cycling, it hurts us.
I feel no unity with these people by the way. Just because they take out their rusty 1980’s trek once a year I’m not going to smile at them

You know, I think 5-6 years ago, a week after the 5 boro ride, two friend(unrelated) attended funerals of a relative who died during the ride…both in their 40’s. Heart attack. Yes, it never made the news, right?
I wouldn’t be surprised if people get into major accidents during Granfondo this Sun. 9W+ is not made to accomodate 3000+ people…yes, they will be trickling through but we know how narrow th path up perkins is….Good luck to all doing it. Be safe – don’t be allured by the UCI championship etc…
natural causes. it takes the average human 7-10 days to cycle 35 miles, and in that amount of time, someone’s bound to die
…2-5 die – ran a red light and the police took action.
A lot of them never have done a USCF sanctioned race. And they think they can race in Europe and to compete in the UCI level event…hehehehe…
Thank you for confirming my assumption of your shortcomings. Sure sports attract A-types but you’re still just a vocal minority in cycling. The majority of cyclists (and humans) believe in cooperation, in strong helping the weak. So I wish you luck with your “me me me” attitude and may god have mercy on your soulcycle.
Amateur bike racing attracts a lot of self-centered d-bags. It’s an awesome sport but we all know it’s true. So does New York City, another fact that no one can deny with a straight face. Put the combo together and you get people like ‘Shit’ below.
This does bring up an interesting point. 107 miles including some big climbs is not for everyone…including a fair number of racers. I wonder if there wont be a few type A’s with really expensive bikes who end up really messing themselves up trying to finish it. Hope they bring a lot of sag wagons.
Highly recommend you all do this race next year, fantastic tt, downtown crit and road race was one of toughtest yet, going to say a lot tougher than battenkill much longer steeper climbs, each to there own on this tough.
Well organised and some good prize money payouts,
puts things in perspective.
Wait 2-5 people? Is there an over/under on this? I
