Hangover 3/7/2011

Section head text.

It was a wet weekend’s worth of wheeled wildness, and it’s now time for us to troll the internet and see who were the wiliest racers out there.

The CRCA club race had the A and B field neutralized due to a crash, so there are no results for either of those races (you can go ahead and say you won at work today, co-workers rarely check these things). Steve King of the CRCA won the C race and Kristin Lotito of Houlihan-Lokey Sanchez won the women’s race. We send out our wishes for a speedy recovery to all involved in the crash. Results are here.

At Branchbrook on Saturday, Gregory Leach of YSG Racing won the 123 race. Michael Zak of Team Cosmic won Cat 4/5 race #1. Anthony Fatuzzi of Team Cosmic won 4/5 race #2. William Federico of the Van Dessel Factory Team won the 35+ race. Leznek Sniadowski of Organic won the men’s 45+ race. Results are here. Pictures are here.

The Spring Series took place, but like Superior giving up her dead, the Spring Series doesn’t give up her results. And yes that is a Gordon Lightfoot reference, I promised myself I’d include references to Gordon in my writing this year. And if you race the 45+ category, that line up there is hilarious. The rumor on the street is that Brian Breach won the 123 race, but he may totally be fibbing about that on Facebook. My Facebook profile is a work of fiction and overcompensation. If you won the Spring Series, let us know.

Finally at Bethel, Gabriel Acaba of Michelob Ultra Cycling won the Pro/1/2/3 race. Bryan Haas of IRS/Medic won the 3/4 race. Carl Regular of Team Danbury Audi/Pedal and Pump won the 45+ race. Ann Marie Miller of Houlihan-Lokey Sanchez won the women’s race. Justin Tyberg of Bethel Cycle won the cat 4 race. Michael Zak of Team Cosmic won his second race in two days. The results are here.

Really? who cares…except that some fine ladies got hurt, and I am very sad about that, and hope they’s feeling better, maybe I can rub some Arnica on the troubles spots???
…you’re all DB for giving a shit…wake me when you start racing for $5k or more, or at least have some pictures? Where are you MQ???

cycle guy

Last year’s SS dismal effort at reporting results was well noted, and the promoter is being watched for compliance with his USAC permit including submission of results to the ‘results and rankings’ as per the permit. He should expect a formal compliant if he doesn’t lift his game.

There are much better organized races out there – Branchbrook has already submitted their results, Bethel is at least up on the website. I don’t even recall seeing a USAC official at the Spring Series race this last weekend.

Provenzano Ferrule

I believe individuals placing in the top 5 of these early spring races also experiencing premature ejaculation. How do I know?…I just know.

Arnaud Torque

“Formal complaint”? on no! Why don’t we just petition the parks to give the spring series permit to someone else. You know, one of the other 4 or 5 promoters in the area who actually puts on a good race.

Ayoub Liner

parks will eliminate races before giving them to anyone else. last thing to do is to complain to parks. does anyone know how AVD got control of spring series. mca was a group of all cycling clubs in the city started by al toefield. how did it become sole possession of avd? does mca have bylaws?

Did you have a race right outside your door? Then shut the F up. Or go ahead, file your “compliant” and mess up racing for everyone who doesn’t care that much about seeing their name in seventh place and sharing with all their Facebook friends

stu not steve

Judging my how few guys showed up in central park it seems the SS is already messed up for everyone else.

BB30

Results matter to those looking to upgrade. Not to mention, we pay $30 to race, the LEAST I expect is official results for a USAC race.

Races like Connecticut Stage race and Quabbin Reservoir are choosing not to be USAC races – good for them and results won’t count for any of us looking to upgrade this season; so I don’t care if they release their results or not. But USAC races should.

The SS TT last year was a farce.

Adrien Nipple

Can anyone make sense of them?, just took a look at the cat 4 race and it seems like half the filed came in 32nd place.

axl rod

Spring Series 3/4. Steve Marmo 1st, Kissina rider (didn’t catch his name) 2nd out of a break that went on the first of 4 laps and stuck.

Lilian Brakepad

How did I get through the winter without all of this childish complaining? I guess it never gets old.

Paolo Swage

Already complaining about AVD? Boy, I’m looking forward to Hangover Monday after the SS TT.

Vieri Flange

Gee, are we dumb or is it the newbie racers complaining? Every year we go through the same shit. Spring Series in CP is a joke regarding posting race results/having enough marshals…If you expect anything different, go race somewhere else.

Mael Torque

Spring Series 3/4. Steve Marmo of Asphalt Green 1st, Joe Mueller of Kissina 2nd out of a 3 man break that went on the first of 4 laps and stuck, dropped a BH rider when he flatted.

alberto

Spring Series Cat 5 was won by Joe Jacobs of Real Estate Rescue, afer forming a break with his brother Patrick over Harlem Hill on lap 2. Pat went on to finish 6th in a sprint amongst the chasers. 2 kissena guys go 2-3, Organic athlete in 4th, and Palo Alto in 5th.

Bernardi Seattube

Have any of you whiners spoken to AVD with your concerns? All his races have an official. There is no way around that. You can find out who the official is and voice concerns with them too. AVD probably doesn’t waste his time here, so whining here is not doing you any good.

AVD probably inherited the series when the MCA members all left except for him. He was left with the MCA and the series.

Kylian Brazeon

there was another rider in that break for a while, and did a lot to try and reel them back in…. anyone else notice that?

Tom Setscrew

Through dedication, hard work, and stick-to-it-iveness, Gavi worked his way up and finally got a big break. Now he’s kicking ass in….wait, CP SS? WTF?! Way to break into the big time.

Tuur Lorica

That was training.

Man, you guys are a tough crowd. One of the nicest guys in NY racing and you want to cut him down. How about a bit of love!

Quentin Compliant

why are you guys tryng to use TRAINING races to upgrade wait for the bigger races later in the season to use for upgrade

Helmut Gescheint

Dear Mr. SetScrew,
Gavi will most politely and amicably rip your legs and nuts off in any race of yoru choosing. So unless you have consistently finished ahead of him, shut your pie hole.

schmalz

Gavi is one of my favorite racers in the NYC area, he was obviously doing the race as training.

Diego Drainhole

spring series beats riding the trainer but everyone knows its a shit show.
branchbrook and probably bethel is a better race if you can get out there.

Robin Biopace

He works hard, and has been cutting his teeth on the NRC circuit since a teen. Very happy to see him get the opportunity to make the big jump. Once you get to this level you never know how far you can take it (see Ted King – he was racing in the NE circuit only 4-5 years ago). Further, dont think for a second Gavi is the only neo-pro/pro who trains in the spring by racing some local training races (see NC, SC, PA, AZ training races and they are stocked with big time pros). Down in SC, Big George and a slew of US pros were racing the spring series.

your mom

Go to AZ and there’s all kinds of professional riders doing a local ride, the shootout. I commend Gavi for staying local. Anyone ragging on him obviously knows nothing about cycling as a real sport.

Paolo Swage

i know something about cycling as a “real sport”. the pros are dopers, and the amateurs are whiny wimps.

Aurelien Rear Entry

that would make the NFL, MLB, FIFA, NBA, NHL, and even PGA not real sports as well

Schiatuzzo Locknut

Anyone who is ragging on Gavi obviously has not met him. True stand-up guy and great teammate who just so happens can outride 99% of the local peloton.

Team Fat Slovenly and Brutish

Who’s the 1% of locals Gavi can’t outride and I’d like an order of what they’re having to go please. Thanks.

Cousin Historicus

LET IT BE WRITTEN, that on Tue, 03/08/2011 @ 3:00am, Quentin Compliant was the first to revitalize the age-old argument that spring racing equates to nothing more than “training”.

Lieutenant Dan

I heard Gavi is so fast, he can make all the lights in Central Park. Try that, you CRCA minions. I’ll be waiting for you, ticket book in hand.

Robin Biopace

Woodbury is signed up for Grants Tomb under Mengoni – Cat 3. Not that it matters but for those of you who have raced more than 3 season, Mengoni took the top Cat1s and you got a free Colnago – no give backs… So seeing a Cat 3 and even 2s on the squad is a bit odd.

Lander Chainline

oh but i’m sure you are one of his teammates. woodbury is on the team via nepotism only, as mengoni recruits strictly from adler’s roster now.

Lander Chainline

Why are you caring if he’s on mengoni or adler ride your bike. Why are you crying because they did not choose you to be on the team. Go to the Miami Heat they are Accepting CRYING MEN.

Marco Supple

Some people believe Woodbury was on BVF, same as Brian Breach.

Speaking of Mengoni, what happened to Peppo?

Lukas Locknut

Who else are the new mengoni riders this year? Looks like Woodbury from BVF, Chabanov and Savory from Adler. anyone else? To me, seems like all solid pickups, a diverse group of local guys.

Bryan Rear Entry

I heard he been too busy sunbathing off the southern coast of St. Bart’s with spider monkeys for the past two weeks, tripping on acid.

Valentin Compliant

Sergeant Peppa didn’t get resigned cause he didn’t have results, bro. Besides he doesn’t need Mengina, he’s been busy in the gym getting his swole on.

Julien Flange

is foundation still putting an “A” team on the road now that gavi is gone? in other words, is lisban still going to be around?

Robin Biopace

Race season has officially begun… now that the yearly Will S bashing has begun (likely by the same few guys). VO2maxout!

Robin Biopace

made a trip to the Windtunnel with the WWVelo guys to see what the drag is on the antler helmet… Goldman would know if wasnt so busy racing porches.

Alessio Rivnut

what a jerk Goldman is – enough resources / talent to kick ass for a few years, get bored and then move on.
