The weekend’s racing is over and now it’s time to try and sort out through the information and misinformation and find out who won, who placed, and who (in the case of the exhaustive Branch Brook results) finished 32nd-the answer is Eric Robertson, if you have to know.
At Branch Brook 123 race on Saturday, Jason Walters of Guardian Coaching won, with Tom Bencivengo of Sommerville Sports second. The satisfyingly complete results can be found here.
On Sunday, Lisban Quintero of Foundation won the Spring Series 123 race from a break. Cooper Ray from Gotham won the 3/4 race, and Gary Steinberg of Global Locate won the master’s race. Pictures from the race are here.
No results yet from the normally reliable Bethel Series, but rumors have it that Tony Slokar of Adler did unspeakable things to the 3/4 field-and he won the race also.
And it seems that you never know who may be trolling around here, so be on your best behavior, as you may be called an idot by the “Boss Hog”.

Tony solo’d in 3/4 – strong showing
9 Name break in 1/2 field — 3 to 4 CRCA guys in the break — usual suspects
Adler rode a smart race.
Did Adler ride a smart race or did Tony? Meaning… did he have anyone helping him out or was it a typical 3/4 shit show with everyone looking at each other wondering who is supposed to block, counter attack, etc.? I’m always curious when Alder posts that they rode a smart race when only one of their guys places.
I’d clarify to state “Tony is a beast and a hell of a rider, and subsequently rode a smart race”…
Kyle and Tron helped me out tremendously, shutting down any bridge attempts. Also, Kyle let Ethan Atkins go off the front with another dude. After a while the pack seemed to forget I was off the front on my own and they thought that Ethan and the other guy were “the” break. That ultimately helped me stay out of sight and away. So, yes, Adler rode a smart race.
Tony
Actually, Adler did ride intelligently. Peppo was at the front keeping the pace high in the first part of the race so that when Tony rode off the front, most of the field was unmotivated to bridge. Once Tony got away Adler was riding tempo at the front and covering moves. I’m not sure what else you’d want out of a small team in a 3/4 race.
Oh, and Tony got away with ~20 laps to go, which is a LONG time to be out in those headwinds.
dumb question
Nice ride, guys. Really good start to the season.
1. Please stop with the “First!” Nobody gives a damn and it’s annoying.
2. Damn, everybody looks really bulky in those Spring Series photos. Off-season weight training, winter diet or just lots of layers?
3. Are you ready to acknowledge Haussler’s form now, Schmalz?
Is it me or do the 3/4’s have a level of angst – almost fear – and stress. Is it upgrade points?
It’s almsot like once you are a Cat 2 you sort of relax…ride to win, drill it, and sort of understand that 3-4 out of 10 races will be your day….whereas cat 3/4’s ride every race with an eye on upgrade points.
Just a thought i had watching yesterday’s race
Boss Hogg rules….
“Oh, them Dukes!@#@$%^%&*&*()!@#$%^&*()!!!!!”
Only about 10 guys really gave a solid effort to get away. Guy on the Ridley Cross bike gave a good effort to bridge to Slokar but fell just short. Then a handlful of mini breaks of 3-5 guys would get a gap and no one would work. The rest of the 75plus feild just sat in waiting for the sprint and chasing down attacks. I agree, too many guys in the 3/4 race for points instead of just riding hard and having fun.
YES!
gotham rode a pretty smart race in the 3/4 it seemed
I poured out my 40 for Thor’s sprinting career on Saturday.
only one team can “Ride a Smart Race” (TM)

15:45 23Mar2009 UPDATE 1-Cycling-Armstrong hurt in crash at Vuelta Castilla
MADRID, March 23 (Reuters) – Lance Armstrong crashed on the first stage of Spain’s Vuelta Castilla y Leon on Monday and appeared to be in pain as he was helped into an ambulance.
The American seven-times Tour de France winner was caught up in an incident involving a number of riders on the 168.3-km course between Paredes de Nava and Baltanas.
A spokesman for Armstrong’s Astana team said he had likely hurt his collarbone or shoulder and was being taken to hospital for checks.
The event was being closely scrutinised as it was the first and only time Armstrong was due to race together with Spanish team mate Alberto Contador before July’s Tour de France.
Contador, the world’s best stage-race rider, won the Tour in 2007.

Should have stayed in bed with his mom to watch cartoons.
Adler should have been racing 1/2/3
Why do you care about what category Adler races? Those guys are all Cat 3s. They must have buried you with that attack… or banged your girlfriend.
1. samuel richardson of adler got 8th in the p/1/2/3
2. those guys probably planned on doing both races, but when you are too busy celebrating a win, you usually can’t make it to the start line in time

sandbagger … it had to be said
thirtieth!
among the many nice things about Bethel (cheap entry fee, bigger payout, premes, great promoter) is the fact that one can double-up and race both the 3/4 and the 1/2/3 race. that’s what lots of people do. that’s what the adler guys did. Slokar was 7th or 8th last week in the 3/4 and then placed top 20 in the 1/2/3. give it a rest.
also, i heard that kyle peppo was less friendly than ever.
You’re an iDot!
After Slokar’s solo win in the 3/4 he rode strong in the 1/2/3 and nearly pulled off a solo bridge to the break-away. The dude is strong.
I heard that Slokar rode home from Bethel on the Hutchinson Parkway and beat the Fung Wah Bus
i heard peppo was on the fung wah bus being very unfriendly to old chinese ladies

What’s up with the Foundation rider on his aerobars in the Spring Series race? (here: http://teamorganicnyc.org/gallery_090322.html) It’s one thing to have them on your bike in a group race but another thing to actually be on them. But either way, isn’t that illegal?
Or was he just passing by?
Can the Adler boy-club get their own forum?
Was not racing – just doing his own training
Definitely great promotorers and execution- races start on time – money paid out quickly, results in Excel, printed, and on a side of a van within 10 minutes.
What is not to like.
Also – for all the crap people give the course…why is it all the strong guys usually win…often in breaks or solo.
It is not a coincidence that pretty much the strongest guys on their respective teams made the breaks yesterday.
Bethel is windy, and predictable – and so the better riders bury the heads of the weaker riders….because the 20th time up teh hill…the weak are tired, and the strong leave them behind…bike racing – very simple.
You guys have the story all wrong. After the 1/2/3, Slokar and Peppo motorpaced a suped up Chevy Nova (driven by Tron and Sam) on 95 all the way to DC. When they got to DC they turned around and motorpaced back, you know, for the training miles. Along the way they rescued several kittens from trees, solved the banking crisis, and delivered 9 babies with their bare hands. Tron also suffered a mysterious jellyfish sting on his face and Slokar had no choice but to urinate on him.
And they made it back in time to see Marquette get spanked in the tourney.
You wanna talk about heroes? Adler’s got em.

I urinate on that lame post
IS therea good doctor for mending collarbon fast? I have to back inItaly soon?
I fart in your general direction!
Alberto, wipe that grin off your face
4 hours after reg-opens and still lots of spots. I actually got in the Cat3 and did not even remember registration opened today.
Is it going to happen? Hasn’t it been cancelled like 20 times in the 10 years?
Personally, I’m gonna win the f*cker….
Moosalokka!!
Q: You will race the world championships on the track, why?
Mark Cavendish: The reason is it makes me so fast is the leg speed, for sure I get the leg speed from the track. What people don’t see is the fine details I put into my training and my lifestyle to be able to be here. It made sense a little bit on the track to keep my leg speed. For sure, I am doing 100-200km in training, I am getting stronger in the climbs, but there’s no point to get to the finish and not be able to sprint. I don’t gain financially and I don’t get remembered for racing the track, but if you look at the fact it will benefit my road career, if it will keep my legs fast, it makes perfect sense.
seemed to extend Zabel’s road career by more than a few seasons. I’ve read Cavendish preaching the leg-speed gospel several times since he busted out on the international scene.
I bought a Fuji Track this season to try out Kissena for that very reason — at a fraction of the talent, of course.
One short month away!
Few comments on the 3s. Looking at the field I aint got not chance. Gabele is still racing 3s after dominating last year. Also, I thought Jordan Sagolawski upgraded to Cat2. He is now registered for the 3s. Some strong guys. Should be tough. I guess its one more race for me to try and follow Gabele up that climb.
just think of it as training race
Cuttler is gonna roll the cat 3 field up like a splif and light it up!!!
You guys are going to get SMOKED.

let’s just hope he doesn’t spill the bong water all over himself…
Who did you think was going to do this race, anyway? take a few breaths, look yourself in the mirror, and turn that frown upside down. Is it too early to start crazy Bear Mt. arguments? Is it really a climbing race? Would Tom Boonen even make it to the finish line? How about a new one for this year–what would Cav do on Tiorati?
Most of this sandbagging bickering is stupid but I do have to say that Gabele racing as a 3 at Bear is a pussy move on his part. Man up Gabele
