Hangover 3/14/2011

Lots going on.

It was a big weekend of racing with many results to report, so I will now do just that.

At Grant’s Tomb, Michael Chauner of team Cykelcity.se won the Pro/1/2/3 race ahead of Scott Zwizanski, Dan Zmolik of Stan’s NoTubes / AXA Equitable and Greg Olsen of Jonathan Adler Racing. Ann Marie Miller of Houlihan Lokey Sanchez won the women’s open race. Mitch Jacaruso of Jonathan Adler Racing won the men’s cat 3 race. Greg Waggoner of Sids Bikes won the cat 4 race. Full results (including a whole lot of college results) are here.

Update: Clay Thurmond has more great Grant’s Tomb shots on his Flickr page.

At Branchbrook, Jonathan Erdelyi of YSG Racing won the cat 1/2/3 men’s race. Michael Goret of the Watchung Wheelmen won the 35+. Gerry Martinez of the Century Road Club Association won the 45+. Anthony Fatuzzo of Team Cosmic won the first cat 4/5, while Michael Zak of Team Cosmic won the second cat 4/5 race. Full results are here.

At Bethel, Robert Sweeting of Kenda Pro Cycling won the pro1/2/3 race. Fabienne Gerard of Fuoriclasse Racing won the women’s race. Bryan Haas of Berlin Bike/Best Cleaners wonthe cat 3/4 race. Carl Reglar of Team Danbury Audi/Pedal and Pump won the Masters 40+ race. Michael Hughes of CRCA/Breakaway Courier won the cat 4 race. Gregory Dorsch of Tarmac Cycling/Iron Bridge Consulting won the cat 5 race. Full results are here.

Rumor is that there was also a Spring Series Race, but results are only based on email and innuendo, so if you know who won, let the world know.

Who’s mad? The only time people are mad is when someone is positive or cheating. Like you are with the Pros, Dan.

The readers of this site are simply pointing out the facts, which make for an amusing situation.

– To the tune of Tik Tok by Kesha –

Scott Savory?
Bwa ha ha!
I guess he is too busy making sure his hair is looking good.
Bwa ha ha!

So who the hell is getting the results around here bro? Reading this it seems that Gavi sucks, Mengoni sucks, Adler rides a smart race but also sucks. Is anyone winning these races?

mitch

Mitchel Jackcrewstow Is the new Gavi/Neil Bezdek Of NYC!
Hailing from no other than NYvelocity he will become the new king of Floyd Bennett field ! Guy is such a f****** tool.

Luchino Topcap

its too early in the season to trend anything, therefore, everybody sucks until definitively proven otherwise. unfortunately adler still makes people laugh, but not with them like they used to; mengoni is like a washed up b-lister; and Gavi won’t get the respect he deserves until he wins the Quizno challenge by putting Grewal into a curb (Gavi is the one guy who doesn’t deserve to get any shit at this point).

Quentin Clearcoat

12:34 did you sprint for 28th place in your race, having just missed getting 1st by, oh, 27 places? i can see why you’re angry. it’s ok. why not sit down, relax, have a nice cup of hot cocoa and re-evaluate your online training program. maybe talk with will schneider, who’s known for discovering raw talent.

Resultsbro.com

1. Mengoni is a former shell of what it used to before Mr. I became senile.

2. Greg Olsen 2010:helmet::Greg Olsen 2011:mouth piece

3. Gavi is a pro, well kinda.

4. Scott Savory is giving up cycling and becoming america’s next top model

5. David Neck is a brilliant lyricist

6. No one has results, bro.

“There would be no point of riding in the park if I stopped at every red light. What’s the fun in that?” griped Tom Laskey, 52, former president of the NY Cycle Club, who got a $270 ticket for running a red light.

Classic.

mikeweb

You can always count on the good old NY Post for a totally one sided article that leaves out about 80% of the facts.

Is there anyone who is surprised about this?

mikeweb

I rode in PP both days last weekend and barely saw any police. I’ve only heard of one single ticket “blitz” near PP, but not inside it.

Brooklyn do or die

As a cyclist, I totally understand why the whole ticket blitz is a horrible thing and really sucks, but geez …you city dwellers really are prissy….cross the bridge and go train in prospect! central sucks for training anyways….way too many god damn runners and tourist in your way

Doffo Cable

Last I checked Brooklyn was part of NYC. There is a charter and everything. Since you are from out of town and may not know your local history, I thought I would let you know. You are welcome.

Journalist

No, your sense of smell cannot be trusted through that beard. The smell of manhattan is actually the smell of freshly tendered US currency.

Antonio Liner

They are ticketing like CRAZY in prospect park. We just don’t talk about. Stay away from prospect, train in Jersey. Prospect is the bad place and you don’t want to mess with Brooklyn cops.

Bilbo Bartape

I got 11 tickets on one lap of Prospect Park. Now I have to sell my online coach into slavery to pay for them – I sure hope raising my FTP by 10 watts was worth it!

Jules Grips

Speaking of Mengoni, I think it’s fair to seem this team is now barely a shadow of its former self. Que paso?

Amerigo Hammer

Mengoni seems to be a caricature of what it once was–the PREMIER amateur team in the U.S., stacked with rising talent.

Would be nice to see them focused on recruiting & nurturing young riders. Why not have it be the repository for top local junior talent, with CRCA and other regional teams being the feeder?

Matheo Helmet

WTF? Mengoni is doing just fine! As far as I know they’ve placed riders in the money at every race since the season started. They’re not interested in March victories.

Noa Lube

im sure mengoni has plenty of midseason tricks up their sleeves. with any luck and some incredibly negative racing tactics, scott savory might make it to a finish line at some point.

Arno Tarmac

Bring it on, fading vestige of greatness, so long as they don’t come in syringe/pill form again.

JohnVeloBlake

Anywhere to find pictures of the SS CP and in the future otherwise? Don’t hate I’m a lowly 5 and want a flick of the win.

Matteo Steerer

is that Gavi E. rode into the city, won the Spring Series race in a break and then rode back out to the Rocket Ride where he threw the smack down on the long route.

ugh. Hate guys like that.

Enzo Threadlock

For real,? that would suck, Olsen just started to race well. now he will have to unlearn everything

Gabriel Sealant

A query: does Olsen know when he’s being photographed or are overly dramatic facial expressions simply his status quo while racing?

Galleazzo Bearing

You gotta hand it to Olsen. He’s pretty damn good and making most others look silly.

Is this like one of those puzzles where you have to re-arrange the words to make a sensible statement? Here’s my solution:

“He’s pretty damn silly looking and making most others look good.”

Did I win?

Menzina

Mengoni has become a lay back team, they dont want to race important events or get new good people. Whai it Pollo still doing there, Wilson is fat and amaury perez seem like he is not racing for the team even if he is the mos sucessful rider they have in the last 3 years. Meran is a Great Rider but aside from JAred adn Briant, las year team wasn’t a team, it was people sharing the same jersey. Mr I lost the touch, is old and weak plua very arrogant and proud old man that gets mad for any little thing. Mengoni is not the team of 12 years ago, the programed races they have are limited to flyd bennet and the park and filling up the field of some NJ races.

nanotube technology

dude…you can’t “tell” anything other than that he’s a good rider. lame to throw around dope accusations anytime someone is halfway decent. Maybe he’s just a really talented athlete. Imagine that.

and no i’ve never even met the guy.

sven nys

yes, the free range cyclists in brooklyn do not have coaches or thresholds. they butcher their own locally grown, antibiotic-free cliffbars as well.

Diego Grips

Look at it this way, you’ve all been dropping your pants and pooping in the Rambles for decades, with no fines. Karma has caught up.

mikeweb

The original DOT explanation for rejecting the request because of negatively affecting pedestrian safety is amazing. God forbid that pedestrians will *gasp* actually have to unglue the crackberry from their heads or their eyeballs and look both ways before crossing the street.

H FCO

Back in 2010, Stringer was the only polititian to suppport the Washington Heights Crit, along with Ydanis Rodriguez. We need to let polititians them that know we are a big community that can change results on the ballots. It seems everyone is lookign the other way.
