Hangover 10/5/2009

On the third day…

It’s that awkward time of the cycling year, when there are road races and cross races occurring simultaneously – sort of a "middle school" time of year, bike-wise.

And leading off the results for the graduating 9th graders, is the Pete Senia Memorial, where Roy Hutchinson of Kissena won the 123 race; Doug O’Neil of Wonder Wheels won the masters race; Celestine Hernandez of Chelsea Bicycles won the 3/4 race; and Misha Chiporukha won the cat 5 race. Results are here. I will also preemptively mention that Will S finished 10th in the 123 race – that will save some time.

At the CRCA Alpine Hill Climb, Alejandro Guzman of Foundation has the fastest time of the day (5:07) by one second over Brian Breach of BVF, the rest of the times are posted here.

At the first day of the 2-day Great Brewer’s Grand Prix of Gloucester, Jonathan Page of Planet Bike won the UCI Elite men’s race; Natasha Elliott of Garneau Club Chaussure Ogilvy won the UCI Elite women’s race; and Troy Kimball of Westwood Velo won the masters race. Results are here.

On day two, according to Genesis, God (and not Mike Rutherford, as some may tell you) created the firmament, which gave Tim Johnson of Cannondale/cyclocrossworld.com an opportunity to win the UCI Elite men’s race; and it also allowed Natasha Elliott of Garneau Club Chaussure Ogilvy to win for the second day in a row – and after that, I assumed she rested. Results are here.

wow, yeah, and if we get to the bottom of things on that scintillating topic (should take a few days, minimum), then we can move on to shoe size. people with bigger feet ride in bigger shoes? some brands are sized slightly differently? backstedt versus bettini???

NYCC Head Marshal

controlling the front of the field for the MS100!

It warmed my heart to hear ‘Holja Line’ on the West Side Highway…..

let’s kick off this week’s argument: crankarm lenght.
who rides what lenght and why. taller people ride longer crankarms? TT bikes have longer crankarms then road bikes? Indurain versus Armstrong???

Enzo Cogset

i’d much rather be talking about vintage genesis than crank arm length at this point in the year

Time for some monday morning anon flaming? Yes. Here goes.

JP got smoked by some cat 4s in the hill climb. No wonder that guy gets dropped out of so many races.
He stinks at bike racing.

ahh, fall…..the time of the year when individual riders get picked on, cyclocross riders talk about (and photograph) lubing themselves up with embrocation and other homoerotic tales of mud, and the schedules of next year’s race season are discussed with much fanfare…

Logan Clearcoat

yes, this time of year is distinguished from other times of the year by people picking on each other

You guys are some serious meatloaf-eating douchebags. What the fuck has JP ever done to you? Seriously: real question.

look again

and he didn’t get dropped yesterday, douchey, he had a mechanical and his teammate won….asshole

Racer who was actually there

He flatted out of the race. He then changed his flat and jumped back in and sat in the back of the pack. The end.

was kicked off Champion a while back, I guess we’re to assume Bianchi has been kicked off too?

Martin Brifter

I heard JP flatted, pulled over & re-sewed his tubular, cleaned off his bike, did some tai chi, got caught up on some email, then chased & caught the pack & finished mid-field. Not a bad result, all things considered.

“Troy Kimball of Westwood Velo won the masters race”

He won the 45+, but Jon Bold of Corner Cycle won the 35+ in dominant fashion.
