FBF race info here.
The concept for this page is simple, we will let you know whether the race will be happening. Charlie will text us if the status changes, and then we will post the change on this page in the comments section. This should go without saying but, DO NOT TRUST A POSTING FROM ANYONE EXCEPT A SIGNED IN MEMBER OF THE NYVC STAFF, i.e. myself, Andy, Aaron or Alex. FBF is a blood sport and I’m sure that some teams would even stoop to trickery in order to keep their competition at home, so check the log in names.
The latest from Charlie:
Tonight’s race is a go! Double points night.
what are the odds for tonight?
didn’t drive in w/ my stuff, so odds are pretty good
yeah, that does usually tip the odds, but I did bike in with mine, so that should level that out, including going back for the water bottle, not necessary for just a commute
whoa. going back for that bottle may have just tipped the scales in your favor (which is really not in your favor). that’s crazy talk … when the weather is iffy i generally forget key pieces of equipment on purpose to work in my favor.
by the hour:

yeah it is, it’s gonna happen! it’t not gonna rain at all!!! just like saturday!!!!! how many more exclamation points can I use?!!!!!!!
Tonight’s Floyd Bennett Field race will have double points for the Overall and Sprint competitions.

whats the verdict?
There’s no verdict until Charlie gets to the course at around 4:15
and why exactly would it have been called off now, when absolutely nothing has happened?
…might be wondering since it’s pouring in parts of the city right now.
oops, sorry, I get asshole of the day award.
whats the word?
4:38 just talked to Charlie, the race is on
Issued by The National Weather Service
New York City, NY
4:13 pm EDT, Tue., Jun. 1, 2010
… STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT KINGS (BROOKLYN)… QUEENS AND RICHMOND (STATEN ISLAND) COUNTIES…
AT 409 PM EDT… NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR WAS TRACKING A STRONG THUNDERSTORM NEAR OAKWOOD… OR NEAR TODT HILL… AND MOVING EAST AT 35 MPH.
FREQUENT CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING..AND WINDS UP TO 40 MPH ARE EXPECTED WITH THESE STORMS. SMALL HAIL WILL BE POSSIBLE AS WELL. IN ADDITION… HEAVY DOWNPOURS CAN BE EXPECTED WITH THESE STORMS. THIS WILL CAUSE PONDING OF WATER ON ROADWAYS… AND MINOR FLOODING OF POOR DRAINAGE AREAS.
betting it hasn’t gotten there yet. i’m bailing.
😀
Maybe I would go tonight, if I lived in Brooklyn. Not worth the potential soaking on the way out
Wind, rain, possible hail and lightning? Sounds like a perfect way to start racing season in NY.
Double the points, double the fun!
Double the points, double the fun!
