While I am bummed to miss the race, I always appreciate you using good judgement when it comes to the safety of riders at these events.

Can there be virtual racing on NYVelocity? Will there be system crashes?
Andy Shen
There will be a virtual race soon, stay tuned.
Adam Axle
Not to get too dorky, but it would be pretty interesting to have an erg-video to be used on a computrainer of popular NYC rides.

too late, sir.

Dick
No. If you think that riding your boring road routes in video game form would be “interesting” then your life is seriously deficient of interesting things.
Adam Axle
No, commenting on a comment on a bike forum on the internet is just as dorky. Pull yer head outta your assos and look in the mirror.

Adam’s winning so far…

The ride down Flatbush might make a good video game.

Can I be one of the van drivers in dreadlocks who honks?
Like, I get 3 points for hitting a cyclist in lycra?

FBF is a mess. With more rain over the next few days, it will probably get worse. I hope the Thursday race promoters have the good sense to check out the course before they run another sketchy race like the last time it rained.
Descartes
If you think it’s sketchy, or un-safe, you’re free to make that call on your own.
donut
I agree, ultimately one should decide for him/herself. However, is it too much that we expect the race promotors to do the minimum work – check out the course and give the racers an accurate account of the course so we can decided whether it is safe or not?
To Descartes: If you are THE promotor or one of the guys involved in running the THU night series at FBF, rest assured, participation and enthusiasm for your races on Thursday nights will never match the Tuesday Nights Series, because your attitude reflects everything…
...
While one is free to race or not race, when a give race is part of a series it does change things a bit.
Jersey Rider
if I’m going to drive in from New Jersey for the race, I don’t think it is too much for me to expect that the promoter has inspected the course and believes it is safe to race on. Thursday night racing is better for my schedule, but I will switch to Tuesday night if I drive in tomorrow and find the course has more lakes than turns.
CD
There are going to be lakes. We have raced around them and through them many times. If it’s not cancelled, you better still be aware that they will be there. Your decision whether you show up.

Don’t put all the blame on the promoter. It is also the officials responsibility to check out the course and make sure it is safe to race on. So speak to the head official when you see an unsafe condition that needs attention.
Pontius Pilate
I blame God for the foul weather that has canceled these venerable FBF races.

To donut, what exactly is their attitude? I see nothing wrong with how they run the race. If you have a problem then you must really have a problem with the spring series & avd.
to everyone else, man the fuck up. if you don’t come you’re a pussy, if you do come and you drop out after a lap you’re still a pussy. If you don’t like it try bowling. ’nuff said.
sink or swim
of FBF for the wine race?
Charlie I.
The Race For The Wine is still on. I will go the course at some point in the afternoon on Friday to inspect the road conditions and will provide an update by (hopefully) 5PM.
Keep in mind the course actually drys fairly fast and with 2 full days until the race I am confident the course will be safe to race on.
