CRCA 4/8

Section head text.

Rainy day, no photos from me. We might get some stuff from Reed Rubey later, though. Preliminary results:

The Motor City Motor attacks, Willingham and Molloy (or Loehner?) go with. Loehner (or Molloy?) and Wiswell bridge up. ‘Aptly named’ Loehner takes the win. Alessio wins the field sprint. Schmalz shows up with nothing but a bike and a jock strap.

Wilkins, Goodstein, and a quickly improving Chris Mecray are away for about a lap, get caught on cat’s paw. ML leads out Baldwin, who’s beaten by a Metro with a vest over his number. Rumor is he’s Hungarian. We propose automatic upgrades for all Euros from now on.

Andy, um, that was me in the break with Wilkins (2 lap break started just after Cats Paw lap 4) – I was gapped back to the pack at Tavern Lap 6 after King bridged up, I tucked behind him, and Wilkins attacked again with me on Kings wheel. Wilkins did the bulk of the work for 2 laps – Craig and I spelled him once in a while after initial trading of pulls. I think we might have stayed away by a hair if I hadnt been gapped out, since they were only caught on Cats Paw. Nice work Dmitry W – certainly put the hurt into my legs!

K King

Chris sorry but he really took off as soon as I made the connection. I needed a few seconds but he accelerated and that was it.

Also i didn’t realize it was you behind me on horse crap when we were trying to reel them in and I was shouting for you to pull through. You did a great race today

Chris M

Oh, no probs Kenny! I spoke with Wilkins post-race and he told me he attacked right there when he saw you show up, and its no surprise you werent ready to go again – Im bummed that I got caught behind you right then, but its entirely my fault – and Wilkins’ smart attack of course… I thought Id catch a rest in 4th wheel, but didnt realize Wilkins had the legs to attack his own break from the front!

Prospect Park

In the rain some crazy ass master attacks from the gun catches and passes the 123 and the 123 break and finishes alone.

I think he was one of the non fat Wonder wheels now does this count as winning both races or is it just one win?

Constructive Criticism?

at the risk of major offense, but with good intentions (really) I’d like to suggest that the these B/C guys work a bit on bike handling and more so on pack riding skills- 276, 257, 422, 228 and 499(?) I won’t even get started about the guy who fell going up Cat’s Paw on lap 4 after losing his balance by trying to push his teammate up the hill. Oh, and how’s this for for irony – Paulie shouting out to several races to "relax" and "hold their line" – absolutely precious.

Puny O'M

Excellent racing this morning, rain and all, hard, tough racing, kudos to Ken King, Dimitri, Ivry and Andy Cohen for making it worthwhile getting out of bed in such crappy weather.

boo hoo

constructive criticsm,

be man enough to criticize someone face to face. throwing out people names and numbers behind an annonymous post is the sign of a big pussy.

Justin

"word up" or "shout out" – whatever the lingo is to the Merril’s in the A’s – If Sherry and Euri hadn’t both gone down when trying to bridge across to the break – who knows ? Axis sure got their shit together though and it was good to see so many Sakonets out there as well.

tom m.

Is this going to be a forum where people talk nonsense behind each other’s backs . Trash talk before the race and accusation after . And mostly in B/C club races . If you see someone in the race doing something that’s dangerous tell the race director or the person responsible . It’s the race directors responsibility to deal with these cases . I’m sorry but there is nothing constructive about you comments . For one how do you know that person will even read this website . Second do you think we’ll remember those numbers .

I like this site I read it all the time the articles are great and it’s a nice thing to have, but these anonymous post are ridicules .

Cpricey

Hey Tom M

Your might be right, maybe to much trash and accusations.

But the “C 501 needs skills” post is not accusation it is fact. Reed your post was right on. We got sketchy riders all over the C field. #501 won today’s race nice and strong but man sketchy, sketch, sketch (sketch factor 9). Believe me, everyone in today’s field had something to say to him and a few other riders. Everyone is going to remember those numbers.

Every C rider has got a thing or two to learn about racing. Tactics aside, most of it is just common sense shit. But damn, 20+mph in a pack, keep you hand on the hoods or in the drops, especially in the rain (Hey el sketcho, these ain’t mountain stages). We are all out here to learn and improve, but some people need to cut out the careless bullshit. Then if they get called on it and don’t fix up everyone deserves the right to post it. Even if the “accused” does not read this site (who are we kidding everyone reads this crap) at least the pack knows what to expect the next time. Call it learning to cover your ass.

kevin molloy

masters passing the 123’s

yet another reason to not race the spring series…90% of the field think they can win the sprint + snore terrain = races suck

JT

Nothing close to a field sprint in the SS 1-2-3 today at least. Thin Mike Norton won I think, out of a group of five. Not sure if they were together at the end — they were away for most of the race. The field was slow for awhile (and also split in two parts for several laps before that, but in the end the second group was also five, then another group of five to eight, then stragglers.

Jason Gallacher 499 Gotham

Hi out there. Sorry about my bike handeling skills in the rain! Give us immortals out there a little slack man. Admitadly, on the second lap just before harlem hill I almost slid out twice. I put my hand out and appologized on the spot. Damn guy, I have nothing to hide, fyi I got fifth in the race. How did you do? Who are you, care to share your name?

Commenting about bike handling skills on a rainy day? Not cool.

The way I see it.

Bunch of whiny bitches.

Bunch of whiny bitches.

Bunch of whiny bitches.

No wonder roadies get a bad rep for being elitest assholes. Just listen to yourselves. Lighten up.

All of you that showed up this morning in the cold, dark rain just to race bikes are OK with me.

Advertise on this site? I would lose business

I could not advertise on this site and see all of the shit that is said while little pussies can’t put there name because they are to chicken shit. Change the site around so that the person must have an account that links to a name. And another thing make people pay to use this site. What a bunch of FucXing babies you guys are. Grow up!

Justin

Settle down there Bigtime I think I was congratulating rather than idolizing. I believe in giving credit where credit is due. I also am fully aware of what these races are about as well as being more than fully aware of my own limitations. No delussions of grandeur here just trying to enjoy the sport and have a good time. You should try that rather than worrying about who can hang with whom on larger scales – enjoy the moment don’t be bitter. This is meant to be fun after all.

Justin

Also the only 50 pounds I’m likely to lose is if I have another bet at Ladbrokes on the Grand National – have you even met or seen me ? I’m hardly Charles Atlas !

B Yourself

use your name, like me, Mihael, or make up a cool name and stick to it. I’ve been called…, Me-hi-smell, or Me-high, or Me-shoo, or The sneak,. This anonymous stuff is boring. Anonymous =wimp that needs a therapist.

Velocity, make people register and use a consistent name to post. Even if we don’t know who the ..(pussys asses little penises, large vaginas) are, at least it will be consistent.

The Sneak..

I did not chose that nickname, but I’ll work it as it has meaning to me…I’ll see if still holds

Constructive Criticism - APOLOGY

Ok, I’d like to not make this worse, which is going to be difficult.

First, I would like to apologize for using extremely poor judgement in my post in this forum. I am embarrassed by my actions and wish that I could take it back. I never should have called out anyone in this way and I wholeheartedly regret doing so. I have felt bad about it all day. My post was wholely inappropriate and I am sorry. I apologize first and foremost to the racers whose numbers I listed and also to all the the users of this excellent site/forum. Years ago I was publicly berated during a race by a former and very prominent CRCA member about my bike riding skills in one of my first races and I, especially, should know better given the humiliation I felt by being singled out. If I have had an issue with anyone, they deserve the common courtesy of being approached directly by me and privately, at least at first and not in any public forum. Jim Boyd actually took me aside after a race a few years ago to discuss my bike control, or lack thereof, during a race and as always, he handled in the most appropriate manner by doing so discreetly and one on one. And, to be fair, my skills and certain my ability aren’t so good anyway.

Second, I offer an additional and further apology to Paulie for using his name. We had a brief exchange during the race and, again, I should have spoken with him face to face and not in this manner.

Third, I offer my additinal apologies to Jason Gallacher (499 Gotham. I am sorry for my actions on this forum. You are entirely correct in your statements below and I did not show you the respect that I would want others to show me and you were very conscientous during the race as you say. Congrats on your finish – you beat me by a good 10 places.

Fourth, I recognize that it is entirely wimpy and shameless to post anything anonymously, let alone criticism of another person or persons. If I post, I will never do so again anonymously.

Finally, there is nothing at all defenseable about my post today. I look forward to offering a personal apology to everyone I mentioned in my original post and hope that over time all concerned will consider forgiving my stupidity.

I accept the consequences of my careless and thoughtless statements and the lack of respect they showed, which everyonel deserves. I look forward to apologizing to those concerned in person and hope they will considering accepting such apology.

If you would like to discuss this with me further or offer any additional thoughts off post – feel free to also contact me at dkblume@yahoo.com

Jonathan S

Congrats to Jason. Your bike handling skills certainly seemed more than fine during the C races and you are already proving your mettle with the Bs. Good job!

kevin b.

i heard the water street bar is closed this afternoon/evening for a party…anyone know of another bar-watching zone for the paris-roubaix?

Justin

Dan – you take the kids to Ikea ? Wow you’re a regualr 365 days a year Santa Claus aren’t you. Whats lined up for next week ? "Kids if you’re really good I’m going to take you to Home Depot!" – oh goody !

David B. Regardless of whatever you wrote in your first post, your second post showed class, maturity and dignity – admirable qualities – well done.

kevin molloy

just watched cycling.tv LIVE coverage of paris roubaix, it was freaking killer!!!!!

so worth the $35 subscription – LBL and Fleche Wallone will also be on live

Jason G

No hard feelings David, and furthermore I look forward to shaking your hand. I appreciate your honesty and sincerity in your last posting, in doing so you’ve shown what kind of good person you are.

Ok, now that we have a love fest here, and we have all experienced our lesson of the day, I say david desirves the t-shirt!

See you all at the race next week.

schmalz

Justin,

Home depot is for sepcial occasions, the girls love the drill press! And I thimk you could stand to lose 60 pounds…

Alex R

Everyone should be aware that there is a CRCA sesaon long Jim Boyd regularity award. So if you place top 5, you should check in after the race to make sure you get your Jim Boyd points.
