This is one of the most accessible stage races to get to from New York. If you do the 123, 3, or 40+ race you can drive down Saturday morning, do the road race, stay over one night, then do the TT and crit on Sunday and be back home by dinner time. And you can stay in Intercourse, PA and send funny postcards to your friends.
All three courses are superb. The road race has zero traffic, winding roads through the woods and farms, several decent hills, and a 600m slight uphill finish. Amish families line the road to cheer you on. The TT course is equally good, with a fun twisty section called Snake Alley; and the crit course is famous.
If you mostly race in New York and New England you’ll get a chance to see some new faces from PA, MD, DE and the mid-Atlantic.
In past years the race has been run as an omnium scored on points, which means even if you don’t have a TT bike you won’t find yourself 10 minutes down on GC.
