The TARGETRAINING Professional Womens Cycling Team held its second team camp on January 18-21. Following a very successful December camp, the team reconvened in Westport, CT for some training, testing, analysis, team photography, and the grand opening festivities of TARGETRAINING’s Tri & Cycle Shop.
Thursday and Friday saw the team riding on Westport’s scenic roads and bonding over coffee, dinner, and a hike. Friday night’s Grand Opening party was a huge success, with nearly one hundred TARGETRAINING clients and friends in attendance. The Tri & Cycle Shop, which emphasizes client service and offers positioning and gait analysis, also carries a strong line of equipment including team sponsor Aegis’ bicycles.

Saturday morning the team received bicycle biomechanical analysis from Jeff Sparling, TARGETRAINING’s specialist. Due to the sub-freezing Connecticut temperatures, the team opted for an indoor training session on TARGETRAINING’s indoor virtual reality using Velodyne trainers. The riders were able to race one another on the 1996 Atlanta Olympics course. Since Sunday was even colder, the team once again rode the Velodynes, this time up Alpe d’Huez. After their extraterrestrial experiences, the team ate a quick lunch and departed.

Starting with the local Bethel race series in March, the team will kick off their season with a third camp, followed by a trip to El Salvador for a World Cup and a UCI stage race. Upon returning, the team will take a small break to decompress and prepare for the inaugural Richmond, VA NRC race on April 7.
