Once again, the good and wonderful promoter Charlie Issendorf has stepped up to the plate for New York cycling, here’s the transmission from the man himself:
All,
I had a meeting with the Park Ranger at Floyd Bennett Field last Friday and we took a lap of our race course in his car. To make a long story short, racing at FBF will continue in 2008 but there will be a couple of changes:
1. Currently turns 2 and 4 (the last turn) are barricaded and vehicular traffic is not permitted on our home straight-away and the road between turns 1 and 2. The barricades are plastic and are filled with water. The park ranger will let the water out of the last 5 or so barricades so that I can move them each week. The last turn will no longer be the wide sweeping turn we are used to. It will be narrower as you enter the turn but once through the riders can fan out for the sprint. Don’t worry, it won’t be dangerous (finger crossed).
2. Cars will no longer be allowed to park on the Start/Finish straight-away You can park your car in the parking lots on the backstretch or in the parking lots by the main building in the front (it’s called the Ryan Center, it’s the control tower). Registration will still be at the Start/Finish area. Keep in mind that the races must start on time so if you’re driving allow an extra 10 minutes or so to ride from your car to the Start/Finish line.
As always the Tuesday Race Series will start the first Tuesday in May (May 6, 2008). The annual Kings County Circuit race will also take place (date TDB) and I assume the CRCA TT championships will also be held there as well.
We all owe a big thanks to the FBF officials for working with us to allow racing to continue.

As most cyclists do, he most likely does JB.
race ride live
where would we be without the floyd. thanks charlie!
Thanks Charlie for all your hard efforts, when this sport still remains a minority and plagued by other unwanted abuses.
Another Great Job Charlie!
on the ride that never was?
i’m looking forward to the tt championships there again. the course shows one’s raw power. that was awesome last year.
I don’t race at FBF, but I enjoy seeing pics of Schmalz getting his ass kicked.
I knew marco was gay…
thanks Charlie for the hard work in making this happen. Everyone appreciates FBF, even those who don’t usually race on tuesday nights, and it would have been a shame to lose it.
those of you who dont get my humor….
sarcasm…..People…ok :—)
Thanks for the kind words everybody! FBF is too windy, too cold sometimes, too hot sometimes, is way too bumpy….and we all show up every week to have a great time. Sounds like Paris-Roubaix! Happy New Year Year to all!!

Thanks for the efforts in keeping racing at FBF alive into ’08, but I sure hope CRCA does not hold the club championship there again but rather in Central Park where it belongs.
I’m not gay. But I think I love you Charlie.
not in a way a man loves a man!!!
But in a way A MAN REALLY LOVES A MAN BABY.
Thanks for all the efforts you do. not just for FBF. but all year round.

at our annual team dinner last night about how great FBF is as a racing venue. Thank you, Charlie, and Happy New Year.
Thanks You for your Hard works and making things happen!!!!!! Can’t wait till May
As a visitor from another galaxy, Id also like to thank you for your contribution and continued help in promoting NYC cycling. Im so psyched for ’08 FBF! The whole galaxy thanks you…Nanu nanu.
YESSS
As an outsider from South Jersey I applaud your efforts to keep the NYC cycling scene alive. It takes a lot of work and effort to keep this sport going at the grass roots level. The general public really has no particular interest in racing and pretty much sees us as a nuisance. Our shop hosts four road races a year and we work year ’round to maintain good relationships in the community. I’ve never raced FBF (although I plan to do one this year just to check it off my “to do” list), but we race at Prospect 10 – 12 times a year. Keeping FBF alive keeps the “evil forces” that don’t like us at bay. Take a look around the country, we live in a “mecca” for bike racing. Between all the NYC racing, the “hill” racing out in Lancaster, the flat and fast South Jersey racing, and a taste of Euro-racing at Battenkill; what more could you ask for? So thanks Charlie, for all your hard work. We’ll see you guys in March!
OOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Thank you so much for making things happen!
awesome. thanks charlie. look forward to the season opener!
