We got the idea a while back that we should thank Marco for all of his hard work by asking everyone to chip in and buy him a new bike. Dave and Lou of Toga Bikes were kind enough to sell us a bike at cost, and chip in $500 as well. Since everyone loves Marco, raising the cash was no problem at all – almost every local team chipped in. We presented the bike to Marco yesterday at the Harlem race. Thanks, everyone!
We told Marco to get on stage to shoot a ‘Community Award Presentation’. Meanwhile, an odd gnomish looking man dodges security and grabs microphone.
Right about now Marco realizes what’s going on, despite gnome’s monologue about scented candles and pleated pants.
Gnome remembers why he’s there, presents bike to Marco. Young girl frightened by gnome.
Young girl builds up courage to approach gnome and rub it for good luck.
Marco impresses crowd with feat of strength.
Marco poses with new bike, gives some tongue.
Marco getting some more love. Gnome wanted first kiss, weeps.
Well deserved!
This means it’s back to the 123’s at Floyd

Thats the coolest thing ever. Totally well deserved and goes to a major booster of NYC cycling. Btw, I need a new bike too Dan. You know where to find me. Maybe next sping it can be “biggest goofball poster award” day.
