Just win baby!

The battle lines were drawn; the day of the much anticipated rematch had finally come. Post Turkey Race, Sarah Sauvayre and I were to once again battle for the New York City Ladies’ Sprint title. It was a warm November morning as we returned to the site of our first contest.

The wind was angry that morning, well, there wasn’t any wind really, but I do think there was meteorological malaise in the air. The crowd for our match had grown this time, and they were anxious to see the fight begin – while I was taking a tinkle at the parking lot – every ounce counts, my friends…

We lined it up at a slow roll and took off, Sarah leapt to an early lead as she had chosen a much wiser gearing. I was left grinding at my steed and found her draft as the line drew near. I collected my strength and being the hardy veteran that I am, I drew upon my wily skills to pass my nemesis just as we ran out of pavement. Sweet victory!

So sad

What an embarrasement to ML…. With the right training Sara could beat Dan. I would bet on it. ML should trade Dan.

round three?

I say the duel should continue…

Another sprint-off, this time no hopping on wheels. Side by side drag race.

Who would take it?

yeah, training

Rather than working on the skills and deep fitness to do well at big races like Philly and regional events like Hariman, I think Sarah should focus just on sprinting to beat Schmalz. Yeah, that’s the ticket.

Better yet, Schmalz as Ladies Sprint Champ rides in the women’s races next year. With Sarah giving him such a tough time, no way he outpsrints Caryl Gale or Hannah if she gets back into shape.

I say the draft is a legit. If you jump to early you screwed yourself. Sprinting requires a little bit of craftiness on top of the quick twitch. If you time it right the draftee CAN’T come around ya. next time dont be so quick to get out front.

a real man wouldn’t have drafted. but isn’t that the whole point of this exercise? silliness, y’all. and it looks like the rest of the laughing ladies were right behind to take out schmalz if they thought there was any wrongdoing on his part.
