For the first time separate junior races will be held at the I Will Foundation Tuesday Night Race Series at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn NY. The races are open to all USAC licensed Junior racers ages 9-18. The first race is Tuesday, May 6 starting at 6:30PM. Race distances and age groups will be determined by the amount of riders in attendance, but please send an email to cibike@aol.com with name, age and gender if you know of a licensed junior that is interested.
"We’re excited to offer junior racers a chance to have their own race series" said Charlie Issendorf, Race Director of the Kissena Cycling Club. "I started racing when I was 8 years old, so supporting junior racing means a great deal to me. I also know firsthand that the best way to develop NYC’s next generation of elite bike racers is to start them when they are young and provide them with a consistent schedule of races to attend, so we are especially grateful to Lenox Advisors and Greg Olsen for stepping up to sponsor the series.”
More than anything, this race series is about getting as many NYC kids as possible to experience our sport – so we don’t want there to be any barrier to entry for any junior that wants to get involved. To that end, funding has also been provided by Lenox to purchase a limited number of road bikes for juniors that cannot afford their own to use for this season. If you know of a young person who would like to race, but does not have a bike please feel free to contact Charlie Issendorf confidentially.

Thanks to Greg Olsen and Lennox partners for the bikes. I hope someone can connect deserving kids with those bikes.
just now been trying to reactivate my email so just wanted to ask how it is going with this. I would have to license my 10 year old boy. He rides a fancy light 90’s race bike belonging to mom that is no issue. Well then if its running I can not sit home but bring the kids out and race myself too!
