Hopeful Friday March 27, 2015

Here we go again...

Race bikes in March, they said. It will be FUN, they said. The powers that be have given us a (possible) reprieve from crystalized water falling from the sky, meaning OMG IT’S TIME TO RACE BIKES! Here’s what’s on tap for the weekends shenanigans.

On Sat, the 3rd scheduled but first to occur CRCA club race will take place in CP at the early hour of 6.45am, when the “feels like” is a balmy 25F. You all try to enjoy yourselves there, as MOAR SNOW is in the forecast for 9am. Also trying to get in before the SNOW is the 2015 Lucarelli & Castaldi Branchbrook Park Spring Series: Roseville Circuit Race out in Newark. Sat also brings the beginning of the Trooper David Brinkerhoff Memorial Race Series up in Coxsackie, which in no way/shape/form makes me giggle every time I (mis)pronounce it.

Sun promises to be warmer and (provided the snow on Sat doesn’t cancel anything) we have the Kissena Spring Classic taking place in PP, the Ronde de Walnut Hill – Aetna Nutmeg Spring Series up in New Britain, the 21st- Ronde Van Mullica -Pedal Power Series #3 down in NJ and the Lucarelli & Castaldi 6 Days of Kissena #2 out at Kissena for the track folk. For those that have interest in track racing but want to learn, there is the aptly named Kissena: An Introduction to Track Racing taking place on Sat.
