There are some that will see an available bike race, register for said bike race, and then race at that bike race no matter what the conditions. I am not one of those people. For me to race bikes, it has to be above 40 degrees at the start of the race and don’t even think about seeing me if the ground is above mildly moist. From what I can ascertain by pictures and postings on the interwebs, there are those of you who fall into the first category and I salute you. From my couch. In my PJs. Where it’s dry. And warm.
On Sat, at the “well above mildly moist” NYC season opener Grant’s Tomb Crit, there was more fields than racers. Yakov Levin of Bare Arms Racing won the mens Cat 5 race, Victor Gras of Foundation won the mens 4/5 race, John McCann of CRCA Jr Dev won the Juniors race, Ryan Hobbs of Wyld Stallyns won the Masters 40+ race, Natalie Tapias of CityMD Racing won the womens 4 race, Tim Willis of KH-Pactimo won the mens 4 race, Natasja Brooijmans of GLV won the womens 3/4 race, Jesus Martinez won the mens 3/4 race, Dominic Caiazzo of GLV won the mens 2/3 race, Mary Castelloe of Alliana Environmental won the womens 1/2/3 race and Mike Margarite of The Weather Channel won the mens 1/2/3 race. Also on Sat, there was the 2015 Lucarelli & Castaldi Branchbrook Park Spring Series: Ronde von DeGraw. Cody LaCosta of High Gear/Trek/WW won both mens 4/5 races, Willie Payton of DeathRow Velo won the Masters 35+ race, Randal Henderson of Doylestown Bike Works won the Masters 45+ race and Mike Perlberg of Sommerville Sports won the 1/2/3 race. On Sunday, there was the Tour de Kirche – Aetna Nutmeg Spring Series race in Bethel, CT. Jake Parton of team sherpa won the mens 5 race, Nick Sabatelli of CT Cycling Advancement Program won the Juniors race, Henry Chan of Pawling Cycle & Sport won the mens 4 race, Cheryl Clark of Team Velo 5 won the womens P/1/2/3/4 race (as a cat 4. after being in a solo break most of the race. then lapping the field. and then going off the front solo for the win. watch out for this one), Christofer Crowell of Stage One Fusion won the Masters 45+ race, Gianni Polhemus of Capital Bicyce Racing Club won the mens 3/4 race and finally Juan Pimentel Jr. of Champion System Stan’s NoTubes won the mens P/1/2/3 race. And now, I bring you a kissing boner:
Now that we need to login to comment, does that mean…crickets?
not if you’re here Eli! Sorry, couldn’t resist. The site is still locked in a death battle with spambots, but more improvements to the comment system are on the way.
I like it (if that counts for anything more than nothing…so, anything).
I like that you like it, so that counts!
I find it disconcerting that the site has been switched for a few days and no one has called me a dick yet.
Enjoy irrelevance!
even though nobody is calling you a dick, you may still be a dick…
Hey Dan, the new site looks great, good work.
Thanks, but I had nothing to do with it.
