I have been a little fixated on the racing in France lately, and I admit to neglecting the most important racing of all (to those among us who are excitable), the racing that happens among the categorized.
On Saturday at Prospect Park, Euris Vidal of Champion System wins the 123 race, Juan Pimental of Global Locate wins the master’s race, and Caryl Gale of Wonder Wheels wins the women’s race.
At Sunday’s CRCA Harlem Hills Point’s Race, John Loehner of Empire wins the A race, Ann Marie Miller of Sanchez Houlihan-Lokey wins the women’s race, Danny Habig of Luzzo’s wins the B race, and Ben Cornish wins the C race.
There were other races out there this weekend, but my time has been gobbled up by making useless smarty pants comments about professional bike racers, so if you know what happened in the greater cycling world, let us know.
David Carr wins with panache. After getting 2nd on an awkward TT course, and doing so-so in the crit, Has to win the RR in order to win in the GC. Guess what he does.
Steals the overall by 1 pt!
Great job DC!

I like racing in the park, and it’s not a given we will always be able to. That’s why it’s all of our business when people flaunt the rules. You know, doing things like riding fast at night without a helmet, riding recklessly in races and yes throwing trash in the road during a race.
Will, no matter how hard try, your posts listing you in the top 10 are not fooling anyone. Good job, but damn, sorry, we’re not going to be talking about you. I can recognize your posts from a mile away
David Carr is…
wait for it…
sandbagging
the word you’re looking for is “flout.”
Sorry, accusations made anonymously don’t carry much weight.
aaahhhhhhhhhh … david carr … aka the professor! YES!!! takes the kids to school AND steals their lunch money.
felicitazioni, buon dottore! way to go!
David Carr is sandbagging. He is like a cat2 in a field of cat5 squids. He is like Bawm chicka Bawn Bawn sandbagging, Zing.
I cannot believe that Lance would not have unbelieveable injustices to not help George, unlike that.
Any Naugatuck results? And who was that girl taking all the pictures?
Who was the girl in the 1-2 race, really strong rider? A lot of people were wondering.
Cat 3 — Dara Kiese (Radical) wins her first TT and first race as a 3 on Saturday, also wins road race on Sunday. Deb Killmon (Signature Rockstar) 2nd in TT, wins crit. and wins overall. Peta Takai (Teany) 2nd in Road Race.
Cat 4 — Kristen Lotito (Third Nature) 2nd in Crit. and first in Road Race, 2nd overall. Colleen Conway (Teany) 4th in Crit. and 2nd in Road Race, 4th overall.
Fantastic job CRCA women, and many more from the New York area (don’t have the specific road results to list all; preliminary results at http://www.skylandscycling.com/cielo09/gc2.html#gc). Just know these because they are friends.
There were hiccups because they had to scramble to fill some volunteer spots (especially with the TT finish — screwed things up for Caroline Gaynor and others, a real bummer). But in terms of the organizers of the race — it’s a nice vibe, close enough to the city to sleep at home, and beautiful courses. More people should come out. It’s fun.
DC is great at TTs and is getting better at crits and road races as the season goes on. His finish in the road race was phenomenal but not at the sandbagging level. He had a great lead out by his teammate, Steve Marmo. Unfortunately, Steve dropped his chain near the finish and despite announcing his mechanical, an incompetent rider smashed into him from behind. Steve’s bike was totaled and he’s pretty banged up.
The Setanta guys did a great job at Giro del Cielo.
Congratulations David Carr! You’re ALMOST a sandbagger!!
Euris Vidal wins P12 at Naugatuck. The guy is having a good season.
Thanks to ap and others for the congratulations. As a recent post noted, mass-start races have not been my strength in the past, aside from trying to do some leadouts for teammates. It was an amazing experience to get one of those leadouts myself from Steve a prince of a teammate, I’m very grateful, and am so sorry that he and his bike took such a beating just after my jump. Be well, soon, Steve.
Here’s betting that lobotomites like 5:01 didn’t actually race Cielo. Dave rode strong and rode smart, and he deserved the win. SOMEBODY has to win, right? Why do the winners always have to be sandbaggers? Not that I’m not looking forward to your upgrade, Dave! 🙂
Congrats on a good strong win.
All,
As of now tonight’s FBF race is still on. At approximately 4:30PM an update will be posted on https://www.nyvelocity.com as to the status of the race.
Cancellation of the race can only be done after I arrive at FBF and inspect the course.

Is David Carr really a professor? He sure seems built like one. Nice GDC David.
He may be a Professor, but there’s only one Brilliant
teaching might not pay top $ but it does leave plenty time for training…
teaching does not leave ‘plenty of time’ asshat
last time i checked teachers get their paid summers off
i rescind my ‘asshat’
There’s a big difference between being a “teacher” and being a “professor.” Professors have to be extremely productive throughout the year including the summer. Research, publishing in journals, writing books, writing book chapters… it ain’t easy.
You have to be productive until you tenure and then its bitches and hoes (the garden variety) 24/7.
Is Carr tenured…?
It’s pretty hard to get tenure. Most of the tenured professors I knew in college were still extremely productive, so my guess is that it requires the kind of personality that would work hard independent of the “tenure”-carrot.
did yall see these doofs sunday night?

Actually I’ve been a full professor for a while now (about 15 years; 21 years total since my Ph.D. — I’m that old), have four biological and step kids (2 of each), and — being at a research-teaching institution — I write a fair amount (just sent one book in a week and a half ago, an article went in yesterday, working on finishing another article by August 31 and a big book by the end of the fall). Still, can’t complain about my job. Love it. And it is flexible, even if I’m not actually “off” during the summer!

and drop the indefinite article
Are we really discussing whether David Carr is a professor. Who cares. Maybe he is just a professor of poontang/science.
Dave Carr and Ray Alba are two of the nicest, most likable and genuinely good guys in the local racing scene. In the last couple of weeks they both have been senselessly flamed on here.
To me, the critical comments about them reflects mostly on those that make such statements than the individuals they are purportedly about.
If you really got to now these guys I think it would be hard not to find great things to say about them.
DB
Has Carr been getting flamed?
I think we’re all just saying that he’s killing it on the bike. Some people mistakenly thought his job as a professor was easy. Those people hopefully have realized the error of their ways.
Good on ya, Professor Carr! You’re an inspiration to the rest of us.
I fail to understand why George, whose break it was, did not do less to maximize his seconds, while at the end lance was like, I cannot believe otherwise
are exceptionable guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
