Don’t Practice CX in Prospect Park

Help preserve PP racing

It was brought to our attention that people have been practicing CX off the main park roadway in Prospect Park. The Prospect Park Alliance has been notified and sent pictures and videos of these riders, and this could be used to ban all racing from Prospect. Please keep in mind that park rules explicitly state that cycling is only allowed on the main roadway, Center Drive, and Well House Drive (see park cycling rules here). Please stop CX training off the roadways so that Prospect Park racing won’t be jeopardized.

Why hasn’t LM test results been announced yet? WHo are they still investigating, one of the Germans maybe?

Halloweener

Obviously the antidoping initiative in NY is a huge success…. My guess is something unexpected came up and they are not announcing anything so that everyone forgets and sweeps it under the rug. Cesar Marte has been missing in action though, so that is telling.

Same thing goes with the NJ State RR and how several riders were accused of not having US Citizenship/Permanent Residency Status (which is required by USAC in a State Championship). The officials/promoters said they will look into it, and no word since the summer for both.

...

Of course if no one failed anything there’s nothing to announce. :p

Cesar has a license from the DR, so it’s not entirely clear how such a thing would be announced.

lynch mob

More importantly….da fuq is up with Mr. High Horse Jonathan V.?! Isn’t this exactly the kind of thing he was supposed to make transparent as soon as he knew?

Matteo Locknut

well, I guess if Cesar has a license from the doctor, then anything is fair game. How do i get one of those? Seems like it’s the formula for success

Halloweener

DR = Dominican Republic. Dr. = Doctor.

Why wouldn’t it be clear to announce? You test the rider and you release the results… then its up to the home federation to ban him. Problem is the results haven’t been officially announced.

1) In regard to the riders at the NJ state RR (which I was in)the word did come back that the riders were in this country legally and approved to race in the state RR by USAC. That doesn’t excuse the fact that the guy who won blew the breakaway apart increadibly 40mi from the finish and soloed to the finish 15 minutes ahead of the next rider. Maybe that’s because he was the 2012 DR Natl Champ and is now racing as a NJ resident. Gilbert Gomez provides the Somerville Bike SHop Team riders with a home because many of them are from other countries.

2)The DR is one of a small handful of countries with a cycling presence and NO Anti Doping organization to speak of. One of the reasons cheating is so widely accepted there. No one gets caught… ever.

I think it will be different if USADA ever announces it than with DA. IMHO the difference is that DA was doping as a Cat 4 and doing it to win cat 3 and 4 races. Cesar is actually attempting to make a career out of cycling I think. He’s been so good for so long that no one will be surprised. Plus, he’s riding for a team that should be winning local races, whereas DA was on a Cat 3 team. Also, being from Mengoni doping isn’t much of a shocker.

Fred Nitche

i guess it’s not “official” yet, but, interesting lack of outrage on doping this time around. are we getting jaded?

Fred Nitche

cheating to do well in your hobby is just warped and sad. cheating to build a career is called fraud.

not that he would have much of a “career” though… if you are going to cheat your way to success, why choose cycling? go work on wall street – better outcome, less likely you’ll be caught.

plus, “so good for so long?” a teenager, with no major wins? he’s kind of fast, but it turns out he’s actually a little less fast than you thought.

Matteo Tigweld

having a “career” in local cycling? is that a joke?

i’d be 99.9999999999% confident that our doorman at what is a no-frills building makes far better money than any local “pro” cyclist.

ZOMFG!

Then why did the park police put up all of that awesome course tape last week? I HAVEZ TO DO MY DISMOUNTING PRACTICEXES!!

Anchors

Here’s an easy guide for what’s permitted on grass fields in the park:

Good: Football, softball, ultimate frisbee, harry potter broom game thing, dress up costume play fights, anything involving a ball.

Bad: Bikes.

dog owner

or i don’t know, maybe my dog is unique in pissing battery acid, but my lawn has yellow spots all over it.

Cunt

If you carney clowns had a sac on ya, you’d show up in force at Prospect Park on Halloween dressed in hockey masks and hold an eerie candlelight seance.

It won’t help you get the practice ban lifted, but it will sure as hell fuck with the other side.

Always fuck with your opponents. Learned that shit from watchin Ali.

Yanis Clamp

Here’s an easy guide to what’s allowed on the drives in pp. bikes, skates, skateboards, stupid wheeled rowing thing, anything with wheels.

Balls: bad

Fair trade I think.

not a dog owner

You are wrong. That is simply not true. Dog urine is harmful to grass only in large doses that are not diluted eventually by water/rain. Cx would be way more harmful to grass. Other than that, STRONG ARGUMENT!

Antoine Seatpost

when I’m looking for a spot to have a picnic I choose filthy dog toilet over biked-on grass every time. It’s just common sense.
