Gavi Epstein is trying to raise money for a club of juniors in Israel, contact Gavi at gavi.epstein@gmail.com. The club’s web site is www.tripleg.co.il.

Here’s a letter from their coach:

Triple G is a small racing team situated in the Galilee, Israel. I established the club almost 2 years ago in order to develop cycle racing in this region. The club has grown to 40 members; mostly teenagers aged 13-17 from Zefat, Maalot, Hazor and Yesud Hamaala in the upper Galilee. In the mean time 2 riders are preparing for a major goal next year-the under 16 Olympics in Slovenia 2007.

The clubs program includes training during the afternoon 5 times a week as well as organizing bicycle races.

The war shocked many of us and shattered an amazing period of 6 years this region enjoyed. Funny, how just one week before the war broke out we were still training along the Israeli-Lebanese border.

Along many, our club too has suffered from the events. Training was impossible and 2 major road racing events the club planned to organize were cancelled. These events were fund razing opportunities for the club. The end of summer training camp was cancelled. This camp was meant to prepare for the coming up Israeli MTB championships.

I am seeking financial aid to help the club over come last month war affects and get the club back to track. Especially I am concerned with organizing the training camp during the month of September in preparation for the Israeli championships at the end of September. 5 days for all 30 kids will cost 5000 US$. It would mean a lot to the kids and make a bad period disappear quicker and also “clean” their heads a little after being 5 weeks in the bomb shelters.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
