NYC welcomes Damian Lopez Alfonso, a Cuban Paralympic cyclist, back to NY after a successful trip to the London Paralympics. Damian placed 5th in his division and 12th overall. Thanks to all of his friends in NY his dream he never dared to dream became a reality. He is coming back to the Big Apple this Sunday to race in the NYC Marathon as well as do some follow up medical appointments. Nothing like getting in a little exercise in between doc appointments!
Achilles International has been instrumental in making this event happened for Damian. Achilles has been one of the amazing supporters of Damian and is responsible for not just helping him but helping other athletes with disabilities realize their dreams.
We are asking those you who can, to make a contribution to help with Damian’s trip to New York which will help offset his costs and help give Damian funds for races this coming season.
Gifts can be sent in a few ways – either directly to Achilles: http://www.nycharities.org/donate/c_donate.asp?CharityCode=1946 and note in HONOR of Damian
(www.achillesinternational.org) OR through a Pay Pal account we set up for Damian. Any funds raised will only be used to help Damian similar to the last fundraising effort.
The Pay Pal account is: TeamDamian12@gmail.com
P.S. We are working on planning a bike ride in Central Park with Damian – stay tuned but if you miss the ride – please cheer him on during the marathon. He will be wearing an Achilles shirt and hanging out post race at the Achilles tent near the finish line area. Please come by and say hello.
It has been through the generosity of all of you that Damian’s life is just that much better!
Thank you
Tracy Lea

Hi Andy!
I must say I am deeply touched with the story of Damian. Seeing his photo had made me think how noble it is that achillesinternational.org is in this advocacy. I believe crowdfund projects for social cause such as this is one worth funding. I will bookmark this post and share it with my online community. Two thumbs up for this post!
