Shen comment: This is my theory of the aero bike industry, based on no real evidence. One or two companies do serious research in the wind tunnel, and everyone else copies what they do as best they can. Many bikes that look good in an ad are disappointing in person, with amorphous tube shapes that seem aero, but probably aren’t. Many aren’t even thin. That’s the first rule of aero: small frontal area!!

Ditto for helmets. So you didn’t book wind tunnel time to design your helmet. That’s ok, you’ll never sell enough make it pay. But did you have to make it so ugly? God knows half of us buy them just to look cool.
