FBF 3/4ths race 5/27/2008
In itself, Floyd is an opportunity to view all sorts of near-biblical weather situations, but last night was an exceptional show. We had a set of very ominous dark clouds that swept in at about 6 PM or so, and they shifted the wind direction completely in a matter of minutes. And the wind howled like a drunken sorority sister, I was out riding before the race and had to lean hard into the gales that were blowing in. A wind like this would help any breakaway chances, as it works like a big chubby teammate blocking at the front of the race. But the helpful weather was not to hold out, as we lined up, the wind had disappeared and the skies had cleared. Stupid fair weather
waiting for last night’s report!
the sommerville riders were in fights with everybody after the race, even the photographer. no one seems to like them.
Bad head music. You need some hardcore shit like Culture Club’s “Church of the Poison Mind” or Aha’s “Take on Me” to get the engine really revvin’.
Sounds like FBF has fallen prey to typical cat 4 racing…”The dynamic of the racing at FBF this year is different from last year as it seems there are less guys willing to kill themselves to get away. That means this year there are less opportunities to counter moves off the front. So instead of a series of dangerous attacks, it’s a lot of attack, chase, sit, photosynthesize, and then chase the next attacks from the same thick-headed fools
yup. 40+ limit, and lack of wind both contributing factors. come out next week, attack like crazy, help buck the trend…
