Today I can barely walk after slamming my body into all kinds and sizes of rocks. In the Sport 40-49 race I took off hard and had the lead for 2 laps. Then I decided to back off a bit with no one in sight behind me. Then Jan Wiejak came into view and passed me. I tried to keep up, but he was rolling over features I had to run or crawl over, and in a few minutes he was out of sight. I learned later that he is a former cyclocross pro and multiple US National Champion slumming it and sandbagging in the Sport category. Cool race, super technical course. Nice job by NYC MTB and all involved.
