Section head text.
The Tour is over, and now the hangover is setting in. After feasting on incredible amounts of cycling information, we will now be entering the blackout period.
Now that we’re no longer spoiled with massive amounts of info, maybe we have regrets about complaining about the coverage we had? I, of course, have absolutely no room to talk here…
How will you cope without the coverage? Will you long to have the Trautwig back?
the "trout-wig"! Wow, you guys are so clever….
Ugli has some good pictures of himself getting SMASHED with Thor and Robbie. Send ’em in, Driftopher.
http://www.philzajicek.com has pictures of Floyd speaking to the french press
french press! Wow, floyd is so clever…
It looks like Schmalz has a left girl-arm.
Who would have a grudge against Frankie? Let’s see…
Schmalz, you’re a chick!
From bio on toyota united website of team owner, Sean Tucker:
From 1994 -1995 while racing as a professional cyclist, Mr. Tucker served as President of MG Sports Marketing where he created and implemented various sports marketing programs for companies. In addition, he secured sponsorship deals and speaking engagements for a variety of athletes, such as Indy Car Champion Scott Pruett and then newly crowned World Road Cycling Champion Lance Armstrong.
Maybe he got fired because he told his boss he had to go home on emergency leave and donate a kidney to his sick brother.
That doesn’t sound fixed at all.
Hey Armstrong…Daddy left because you cry…
Um, is this supposed to be about the coverage? I say trautwig’s getting better but still sucks and rolls getting tiresome.
off topic – but NY Times has an article on oxygen tents…and banning them for not being in line with the spirit of sport. I mean, these guys are off the charts….next thing you know they will ban V02 max intervals —- if you do them in training, you are cheating becuase it is not in the spirit of sport
i kinda agree somehow with the WADA fakeyness test.
Hey Chris – thats some cool photos there of the Tour. Looks like a blast.
Nice pics Chris!! What stage did you paste down that "Adler" tag? I’m gonna look for it when the DVD comes out!
So whats next? Are they gonna stop teams from actually training in the high altitude mts? Its ridiculous. The slope is beyond slippery.
That said, I cant wait to hear the excuse of the rider that failed the controls.
both of you who made comments on how the WADA would next ban training at altitude or vo2max intervals, their argument is precisely the opposite: they are opposed to them because they are not "training," in the sense that the athlete is not exerting themselves. I also disagree with a ban if it happened, but please at least read the article before you start making comments. Thanks.
One could still spend days @ high altitude and not do a lick of riding. Same result, no? The slope still slips IMO.
Doesn’t seem such a slippery slope to me. WADA’s ban governs prohibited substances and methods. They can define method however they want. Fair game in my book. Kinda like banning certain bike designs/components in certain competitions.
Here we go:
Phonak confirms Landis positive
The Phonak team has confirmed the speculation that Floyd Landis returned a positive A sample after his win in stage 17 of the Tour de France. "The Phonak Cycling Team was notified yesterday by the UCI about an unusual level of Testosterone/Epitestosterone ratio in the test made on Floyd Landis after stage 17 of the Tour de France," said the team in a statement. "The team management and the rider were both totally surprised of this physiological result.
"The rider will ask in the upcoming days for the counter analysis to prove either that this result is coming from a natural process or that this is resulting from a mistake in the confirmation. In application of the Pro Tour Ethical Code, the rider will not race anymore until this problem is totally clear.
"If the result of the B sample analysis confirms the result of the A sample, the rider will be dismissed and will then pass the corresponding endocrinological examinations."
HOLY SH!T
After stage 17 to Morzine, I was scared we would get this news.
I hope it ends up being nothing, but I doubt it.
This is going to sux.
Landis has personality rode a great race in a wide open tour….if he fails a drug test, in my opinion that is sort of the last straw for cycling and drug use. I will even hop the fence and begin to believe….they ALL DO IT.
WTF?
No matter which way this ends up the sport of cycling is F*ked. Either the riders are all BS or the testing system is BS. Take your pick, the sport will suffer either way.
Now everyone that I tell I am a cyclist thinks that I am a doper. Great PR for a sport we all love.
And for anyone who doesn’t read the article the title makes it sound like a foregone conclusion…..the damage to cycling is already done, it is the 57th most popular sport in america, just went to last spot at 61….HA. I mean testasterone….he should know better.
don’y worry, in a year they will have new drugs that dont show up in controls..and then this will all happen again in 7 years or so.
yeah. everyone i tell that i’m a cyclist will think i dope too. they’ll just wonder how bad i’d be if i DIDN’T dope.
seriously. who is going to think that you dope because you ride a bike? who do you think actually cares that much?
Price just got 3rd at Owasco – totally doping!
3rd at owasco…hmmm, that changes everything…that’s why everyone will assume he’s a doper once he tells them he’s a cyclist…they’ll also probably expect that he’ll give back all of that endorsement money and cancel his speaking engagements…
just making fun of his reaction to the news…seemed a little dramatic…
