Got a question for Lance?

Here’s an interview

Finally all the years of pandering to cycling insiders, forging

VIP passes to industry events, and even compromising

our journalistic integrity on occasion we have worked our way up to the top of

the cycling food chain- Big Tex. Schmaltz has been working furiously,

preparing to face off with Lance later this week but so far he can only come up

with questions about his ball(s), so we want you to help. Please and

submit your non-testicular questions to info@velocitynation.com,

Subject: Armstrong interview. Or if you are a lawyer, Subject: Impending slander

suit.

Does Lance think the ASO’s decision to exclude Astana from their events is in any part due to their suspicions about possible illegal performance enhancing on Johan’s Postal/Discovery teams.

Anonymous

Although Lance always said that he/his team didn’t dope, he never (I never caught him) denouncing doping in his sport. How come?

Anonymous

Cyclevaughters: yeah, i could explain the whole way lance dupes everyone

What is JV talking about here Mr. Armstrong?
And, could you tell me about “topping off”, or “micro-dosing”?
Did you ever send Beloki a sympathy card?

Anonymous

There’s at least a half dozen local guys who would be a more interesting interview and way more relevant to a local cycling site. Having been interviewed by some of the best interviewers in the world it’s fairly unlikely that Dan and Andy will be the ones to finally get Armstrong to answer the tough questions. No offense guys.

Anonymous

I agree that, in the spirit of this site generally, no punches should be pulled. Ask the tough questions, and if he choses to back out or not answer, its up to him (but you will have done the job).

BTW, pleeeease delete the no class posts (see below re Olsen). Honestly, people. Thats just wrong when he could be reading this like us locals this week.

Disco gossip, lot’s of Disco gossip

Vino?

Floyd?

Does he plan to get back on the road bike and race in the future?

He has mentioned Mt bike racing, any plans for that? Kona?

And yeah, would he (really) prefer to ride say, a BMC?

Dear Lance,

Why can’t you just go away?

You litigiously squeaked your way into retirement with your reputation intact while most of your colleagues and competitors went down with the doping ship.

But let’s face it, your throne sits precariously atop mound of lies and deception.

Cycling seeks a new direction: one that is far removed from you and your associates.

While I understand that even cancer needs a home, please disassociate yourself from the cycling world.

Why can’t you just go away?

What role does he see for himself within the sport in the coming years?
He’s been awfully quiet within the sport lately, why?
Why only blondes?
Does he regret never having won Amstel? (Is he pissed at Boogie for being a wheel sucker?)
How did his training and pre/post race routine evolve througout his career?
How many languages does he speak?
What about the altitude tent he slept in?
Any good stock tips?

Take, say, sports — that’s another crucial example of the indoctrination system, in my view. For one thing because it — you know, it offers people something to pay attention to that’s of no importance. [audience laughs] That keeps them from worrying about — [applause] keeps them from worrying about things that matter to their lives that they might have some idea of doing something about. And in fact it’s striking to see the intelligence that’s used by ordinary people in [discussions of] sports [as opposed to political and social issues]. I mean, you listen to radio stations where people call in — they have the most exotic information [more laughter] and understanding about all kind of arcane issues. And the press undoubtedly does a lot with this.

Lance:
You stated several times during and after your active career that you never tested positive for any prohibited substance. Another words you were testing bustances that were not yet prohibited and that worked for you. Did your relationship with GSK include being a guineepig for the next generation of PEDs? Thanks!

What happened when the ASO found out that you gave away all of your TdF prize money because you had something like $16 million a year in sponsorship deals, and could afford to train exclusively to win their race that they owned and thought they controlled completely, down to the miserly prize money they doled out?

Did they crap their pants to find out that a mere rider had tapped into a revenue stream they had no idea even existed, much less controlled?

And how is it that this slave-master relationship between riders and the combined forces of managers, promoters and the federation began to unravel after, say, your third win?

What was the silence like when all those old crusty guys who acted as gatekeepers to the sport suddenly had to sit down and shut the fuck up because an American had outplayed their ancient economic shell game?

Also, what kind of tacos do you like?

Anonymous

In 1993, immediately after you won the Triple Crown and earned $1mil in Philly, I got your autograph on a race poster. How much do you think I’ll get on Ebay for that? Do you think it’s more valuable with Scott Moniger’s autograph or should I cut that part off? Seriously.

you guys (that’s nyvelocity) should revive the login for certain pages. let everyone snipe each other to death over the spring series, but when it comes to stuff where you guys are dealing with content focusing on one person, particularly “big deal” people like, i don’t know, mr. armstrong for example, you should make it members only, log-in only… not so much because celeb’s and pro’s necessarily deserve better, but simply for the good of the site and its ability to get legit content in the future. just a thought.

To Win? Why do you train so much? Where can I find a good coach/doctor/chiro/chef/private jet pilot/rock star girlfriend/centrifuge/butt cream/really, what are the 5 steps to success?
Or just ask David “TIGER” Williams…

Schmaltz has a better chance beating Wilson in a sprint, than getting a Lance interview. I believe this is all bullshit. If it is not then my question would be, “What EXACTLY were you paying Dr. Michele Ferrari for?”…afterall we all know that Chris Carmichael was his coach….I mean how many coaches do you need? I’ve allways believed Carmichael wrote the training workouts and Ferrari “helped” Lance finish them…

Anonymous

Lance, will you be as sad as the USCF when athlete participation drops 20% now that you are gone…and the boutique bike shops fail by 2009. whoa, Wait a second, neither of them know this yet.

Anonymous

Its amazing to read some of the comments here.Seems as if people are jealous of you Lance, good for you to win the biggest race in the world and make good money doing it.Too bad people dont know where to draw the line between your personal business and on top of that are disrespectful as well.So I must apologize for them.

Carmicheal is an ass. I know from inside that Lance and George H. never went by any Carmicheal training plan. Carmichael was the cover and Ferrari or Bruyhneel gave the workouts. LA just gave his Carmicheal some advertising help.

Anonymous

I think that he should be doing more for his sport. Cycling made him what he is today and failing to be apart of the excitement that he help build I think is sad.

Lance, you stated, upon last summer’s dissolution of Team Discovery, that “things need to improve on many levels, with a more unified front, before you would see us [Tailwind Sports] venture back into cycling.” Given your status as the most famous American cyclist in history, you may have been in a unique position to actually effect said “unified front,” rather than just hope someone else does it. You also had the opportunity to: (1) prolong the life of one of the sport’s most successful organizations; (2) take a stand against cheating; and (3) help reverse the tide of fleeing corporate sponsors. Instead, you and Bill Stapleton walked away from cycling — despite your claims that Tailwind already had a sponsor lined up to replace Discovery Channel. Do you regret the decision to abandon our sport in its time of greatest need?

Also, in your experience, what works better from a performance standpoint: EPO or autologous blood doping?

[Dan, if you’re only choosing one question per customer, feel free to delete that second one.]

luv the nyvelocity locker room, which is mostly just amusing internet towel-snapping and name-calling

and dont care if youre a fan of LA or not

but the complete and total lack of respect shown to someone who has accomplished so much reflects very poorly

In your professional sports buddy circles….who pulls the most wool. Average guy, not supewrstars like yourself. Does the average peloton pro get better looking ladies than an acg. pro Golfer, Footballer, Tennis player, NBA guy, etc. Afterall I need to know that I am training for something meaningfull

“Please and submit your non-testicular questions to info@velocitynation.com, Subject: Armstrong interview.”

which makes the questions submitted in this forum moot. Also, if this is an april fools joke, they can tell you personally that you were fooled.

“Another words you were testing [sub]tances that were not yet prohibited and that worked for you.”

What does this mean? If something isn’t prohibited it’s OK to use. Pretty simple.

PS – look up “molecular sieve”
