The effort of springing ahead this weekend seems to have taken its toll on those reporting the precious, precious results to the world. But no matter, that only means I have less to do this morning, which is always a welcome situation.
There’s no results posted for Saturday’s CRCA Club Race, but rumor has it that Ira Blumberg of FGX won the A race. Ernie Paredes of RBNY/Sommerville Sports gave himself a birthday present and won the B race. Other details are not making themselves known. Results will eventually be here.
At Branchbrook on Saturday, there were many fields of racing Scott Savory of the Lupus Racing Team won the pro/1/2/3 race. Leszek Sniadowski of WSUnited won the 45+ race, and that’s all I know so far. Results eventually will be found here.
At Grant’s Tomb on Saturday, Cole Archambault of Green Line Velo driven by Zipcar won the pro/1/2/3 race. Amy Cutler of FCS/Zngine p/b Mr. Restore won the women’s 1/2/3 race. Stephan Hoffman of the Lupus Racing Team won the men’s 2/3 race. Josh Rovner of Sixcycle – RK&O won the men’s 3/4 race. Shane Ferro of Rockstar Games/Signature won the women’s 3/4 race. Ryan Fisher of CRCA won the men’s 4 race. Kathryn Cumming of Team Yacht Club won the women’s cat 4 race. Aliaksandr Kochatau won the men’s cat 5 race. Peter Vollers of Vermont Overland won the masters 40+ race. Ian Keough of the Hot Tubes Junior Development team won the juniors 9-18 race. Full results are here.
Neither Bethel nor the Spring Series have results up yet, so I don’t have to do anything else!
Clearly for every woman in the 1/2/3 that didnt win, the strategy of riding at 12mph and waiting for the sprint didnt work because a certain alpha sprinter will win it 100% of the time. Certain teams had several riders… Attack alpha sprinter and get away in a break. If she is in it, dont pull, let it get caught and let your teammates attack until alpha sprinter tires and misses the break. Without teammates she can only follow so many attacks before she cracks. Checkout the mens races to see how its done.
Wow, thank you (presumably male rider) as women, we are obviously weak and have NO idea how to race our bikes. Thank goodness a man like you is around to tell us what we did wrong, or to assume things about the race that simply weren’t true (considering multiple attacks happened in that race, but none got away, and the one near the end almost did). And 12 mph? Check a Garmin from a woman who ‘RACED’ (although I’m sure you just assumed we were on a leisurely lady ride, right?) and I doubt you will see 12 mph average. Thank goodness there are men around to show us what bikes to ride, what equipment to buy, and how to race our bikes — otherwise we’d be SOOOOO lost(hopefully you sense the sarcasm). Thank goodness the men who organized Grant’s Tomb — oh wait, it was organized by a woman, whoops — deemed us worthy enough to race on the same hallowed asphalt as you obviously more serious and talented men.
i agree with everything written below except the “organized by a woman”. while a woman (who deserves many thanks and much gratitude) did a large portion of the work, it was organized by the CRCA board (and various hanger ons) which is comprised of men, women and some question marks. (i am looking at you, jayson. you are way too pretty to be a dude…)
Post the garmin file, I’ll give you 14mph average. And how does a one trick pony win 16 local races… I’ve watched, and observed slow speeds and very few attacks compared to the men’s races.
Strava says 21.1mph for the women and 26.5mph for the men.
The both of you suck for taking yourselves seriously.
The NYC scene is so fucking doosh! Practically everyone thinks they’re hot shit. Most of you are not shit. Just full of shit.
Bunch of weak asses still trying to grow up.
26.5, wow pretty slow
26.5, wow pretty slow
21.5 is pretty frickin slow for a race, no matter how you spin it.
26.5 isn’t so slow for a crit with turns in both directions, & a couple of elevation changes, in March.
21.1 is
one trick pony? wow you know a lot of things and we should all be grateful that you are so generous with your facts and opinions. so so lucky.
Sarcasm is over, no one does sarcasm anymore. Puns and double entendre are in.
You know it’s a good discussion here when “fucking doosh” and “weak ass” are used in the same post.
@ 21.1 mph you might just hang on to the Cat. 5 races đ My grandma can out sprint that field with her hip replacement
Asshat
idot
Assclown
Anyone else see the guy flying that drone overhead during the Cat 4 race?…
how do you know he burned out and quit? he could easily have gotten sick of the disproportionate number of complete assholes in the roadie community and decided to do something else with his time.
most burned out nyc cyclists go back to watching porn and eating bon-bon’s.
First!!!

Did Eli race this weekend? If so, I can’t wait to read his race write up.
Looked like average speed was 12mph….
you should race at the speed needed to win. no point leading everyone out.
From the Rider, p 20 | Every once in a while someone along the road lets us know how far behind we are. A man shouts: ââŹËFaster!ââŹâ˘ He probably thinks bicycle racing is about going fast.
Grants Tomb Masters Race from my GoPro

Despite the shotty writing I actually enjoyed reading it. Some good laughs.
Thanks, but *shoddy.
….yes, I get the pun.
Yesterday was tough.
hahahaha Eli with your “moves” you should try braining it out a little.
Almost 100% positive that there is an inverse correlation between a commentor’s relevance in races and his level of vitriol toward Eli.
@eli. Haha, that wasn’t a pun. I’m just not paying much attention to my own writing. But Arne seatube is actually right. You’re taking guesses on how you should race, what moves to go with, etc. I’ll PM you later with a few tips.
hold up….you sprinted for 40th and are complaining about a newbie fred?

I am indeed not that relevant a racer, and never met the guy, but blogging elaborately about one’s exploits in an industrial park training crit…..really? dude has way too much time on his hands, I guess.
Thanks, Eli. I enjoy these blogs. Keep em coming!
Thanks mom. I love you too.
Eli hating reminds me of CJ hating. Noob learning the ropes totally loving the sport, lives and breaths it and gets abused by cranky misanthropes with no style or grace. Keep it coming Eli.
yes, and CJ doesn’t race anymore. I’ve seen tons of guys like that catch the bug, become obsessed, blog about every training ride, then burn out and quit.
Yeah, but Eli is already 5x better racer than CJ.
Aw Nana, you’re the best.
Q: Who’s Nana is 5x better than all the other Nanas combined?
A: Eli’s
I like race reports. the more the better.
I like race reports. the more the better.
Who’s CJ and how do I get him to start racing again so I can beat him?
Really? StatenCX has been gone for a year and CJIA is already forgotten.
If eli want’s to publicly post the minutia of every single one of his brain farts I don’t see why I shouldn’t post my ridicule.
If someone wants to post about every time they take a dump (sorry Dan:-) or ride around in a circle, fine….but better to speak softly and turn over a big gear.
the men’s race where the sprinter who won last year won again this year, without a lot of teammate support?

Conversely to the alpha sprinter comment… The guys on 6 cycle have been going about races for years by attacking continuously. When they were all on ny velocity they comprised of 30-40 percent of the field. Just keep sending riders until the field stops chasing.
What you lack in talent and training make up in volume.
