Fundraiser for Mark P

give something, please…

Local racer Mark Petimezas was involved in a terrible accident while training which caused him to lose use of his limbs. He fortunately has good health insurance but no disability and as a consultant does not make money if he doesn’t work. With a wife and a 2 year old daughter to support, he is going to need help. Anyone who knows Mark knows that he is a great and caring guy. Please help if you can.

I heard about his crash, terrible news and awful to hear that Mark is in such a bad shape. This is a great initiative, count me in to contribute!! Focus on healing, you are in my thoughts.

From the website: “11/4 (Day 1) Update: $14,000 raised! 14% of the way towards our goal. Thank you so much and please keep sharing!”

Let’s show the NY cycling scene’s best side and make this happen!

Done. $40k raised so far speaks very well of the NYC cycling community. Please buy disability insurance if you do not have it already. Your ability to earn income is your most valuable asset in most cases.

Any update on his condition? Is he expected to regain the use of his limbs? I plan on contributin. I hope he makes a full recovery! Best wishes to him and his family.

Some who ride around in Foundation kits with Mark are uber wealthy billionaire asset managers that can donate 100k in a heartbeat and not even notice the difference in their weatlth. just putting it out there as it would be a tremendous boost to the situaton

how about you control what you can control and not moralize about what others should do with their money.

have you donated? if so, good on you. if not, well, then no comment.

Mark has a long road to recovery and his prognosis is unclear. His injuries are significant and he needs all the support he can get so that he can focus on therapy. Foundation, and the larger CRCA community has done a fantastic job of fund raising, but he has a long way to go, and I fear $100k is only the beginning.

You can read some status on his condition here – http://foundationcyclingnewyork.org/new-york-city-cycling-community-comes-together-to-help-beloved-cyclist-recover-from-tragic-crash/

You can also sign up for a Computrainer session / fund raiser on Nov. 19th generously hosted by Tailwind Endurance, here – http://foundationcyclingnewyork.org/new-york-city-cyclists-organize-ride-to-support-their-own-mark-petimezas/

With respect to Mark and his family, we have followed their request that we not share Mark’s condition details. I can share that Mark’s sole goal written on a whiteboard in his room reads, “To walk hand in hand with his wife and daughter”. This is an ambitious goal. We are doing what we can to allow him to focus on this goal.

Mark is a friend to all in the cycling community and he needs our help. Please donate generously.
