It was an emotional weekend of racing in the city, so let’s see what happened.
At the New York City Cycling Series in Prospect Park, Gilberth Gomez Valverde of Somerville Bicycle Shop won the cat1/2/3 race. Amy Cutler of Riptide Cycling won the women’s race. Johann Burrowes of We Stand United won the masters 40+ race, and Nolan Montiel of the CRCA won the cat 4 race. Results are here. Photos are here.
Results haven’t been posted yet of the Lou Maltese Memorial Race, but I do know that Augusto Sanchez of Mengoni won the pro/1/2/3 invitational race, with Mengoni taking the team prize. Kristin Lotito of Pure Energy Cycling-ProAirHFA won the women’s race. Ramphy Colome of Innovation won the cat 3 race. Ashley Bernes of Kissena won the cat 5 race. Pictures are here, here and here.

Yup- He’s a teenager, and is Pollo’s son. Watch out for him- You’ll be looking at his rear wheel for years to come.

CAT 3 race DQ – Urinating during the race…Really? come on, its a 50 mile race that takes 1:45! guys really need to stop watching NBC Sports before these races. There was even a guy that had his own “feed zone” on lap 2!!! And the touching that goes on…there were more asses being touched in this race than in the Rick’s Cabaret champagne room. For the love of god keep your hands on your bars!
Hey cat 3’s, whats with taking a leak mid race? You can’t hold it for 2 hours?
Hey you pretend Tour De France / Border Line Drug Dopers, I have a box of titanium / carbon fiber tacks waiting to dispense during your next race…hehehe
Any idea where the moto photos are?

I think they might be here………..im not sure let me look……nope i dont know where they might be
People were complaining about the mixed 4/5 field but on the flip side the decision to give the women their own race was great….both for them, and for the masters. Although we did pass them the field was small enough and significantly slower that it was totally safe to overtake them….unlike when a Masters and another mens field get mixed up and it’s tough to sort it out. A win-win for both fields. Horace, please do the same thing this week!
