It’s a full weekend’s worth of bike racing, presenting many opportunities for physical exhaustion before egg collection begins.
Saturday morning has a Spring Series Race in Prospect Park. Also on Saturday is the 2012 return of racing in the newly repaved Branch Brook Park with the 2012 Essex County Cherry Blossom Challenge p/b Jimenez Velo Sport. For those with transportation out of the city, there’s the Trooper Brinkerhoff Memorial Spring Series Race #3 in Coxsackie, NY. For those wanting to take a longer drive, there’s the 10th Annual Chris Hinds FUJI "Sunshine" Criterium in Charlestown RI.
On Sunday there’s a Spring Series Race in Central Park, there’s no Bethel Race due to the holiday.
And if you won at FBF last night, please let us know.

There’s six races, right there ^
Which race from the detailed list with the links that you have above around NYC has the best prize money?

grimace to mengoni. robble robble robble.
Welcome to NYC, where everyone has a different opinion, yet all are wrong, except mine. Check out the races for yourself. Every weekend and even Thursday nights. There are plenty of close ones if you don’t have a car.
Be sure to wear your ugliest kit and ride a smart race.
Are there any cat 3/4 55 plus races around New York?
.. thread’s not getting old yet
$1,500.00 Big money prize list at Cherry Blossom Challenege in Newark, NJ!
But I doped
I’m a cat 4 from New York. Is the registration for Paris Roubaix closed out yet?
Hi, I’m a former pro. Are there any races with no doping controls?
And will any of them have teenage blonde girls watching?
whoever posted robble robble robble—that was awesome.
I an here in NY until September 2012 before I go back to Holland. I am available to join a team, whichever team pays the highest for my talents. I am a criterium and track racer.
I am a stoner here from Amsterdam. Can someone please direct me to the nearest doobie bar?
“pay me the most for my talents.”
I’ll introduce you to my agent and maybe he can find you something.
Happy Pesach to all of my hebrew homies!!
by the way that syringe sticking out of my left thigh is a fashion statement.
By the way is there an iPad or iPhone app for this here NYvelocity site…it is so trendy….apps that is, not the site.
CAT 1, one of the delivery guys from the chinese takeout place in my neighborhood was recently hit by a truck. i am not sure whether the opening has been filled yet but i am certain that they would be in the running as far as being willing to pay the most for your ample talents.
Brazeon -Do they supply a bike with brakes and Di2 shifting? If so I would certainly like to have that job.
By the way that snark upon your sleeve is a Boojum
hell, you don’t even have to pedal these bikes!
Prize money? Who has the best photographer! I race for the pictures.
But I would like to add that the rest of you are very funny today!
“Hi, I am a cat”
Did the Cat one from Holland ever stick his finger in a dyke?
As a Cat 4 Elite, I aspire to race against more sand bagging jackasses on carbon frames with all the top gear.
Any advice?
Cat 4 Elite is a very specific category ANC involves immense prep In front of the mirror and at the start line to ensure photos are taken.
Usually I cause crashes and finish 40th!
Look forward to racing against other of my caliber.
the race technically starts in coxsackie but ends in nearby town, climax
hard to resist dumb jokes about coxsackie….
ya know
Why are cycling promoters fat and over weight? Is it because of the money they make promoting bicycle racers, where suckers pay to get an adrenalin rush?
The P-1-2-3 Race went down like this…
It was a full field of 110. Length – 50 miles…Avg Spd 26.8 mph…
Foundation, VanDessel, AXA No Tubes, Metra/Cycles 54, UNITED / Mangoseed were all well represented. Jamis Sutter Homes also had a few. The pavement was fresh, brand spankin’ new…smooth as a baby’s butt as someone aptly put it. Temps were cooperative and the pace was high.
The field was testing it for approx the 1st half of this 50 mile race. Then, a little better than half way through the race is when it went down. 8 guys managed to escape. It was Mike Chauner, Gavi Epstein of Champ Sys, Stephan Dioslaki of Metra/Cycles 54, Ryan of Lions of Flanders, Raffie Urzadowski of Northeastern Hardware, John Lohner of AXA Stan’s No Tubes, Eugene Bonoromow of Mengoni and Mike Gorrette of Highgear Cyclery. The representation was good but not the best for these guys because no one from: Foundation, United, Jamis Sutter Holmes and no one from Van Dessel was in there. The blocking from the represented teams and the headwind however must have been enough though as the breakaway stuck. Mike Gorrette and Raffie were pulling dangerously well for a while but must have used up too much gas because with a few to go, they were less able to respond and things were getting a bit disorganized. Chauner pulled like a real animal as did Gavi and Lohner. The group worked well together for the most part. Dioslaki rode “smartâ€. Truth be told, Eugene of Mengoni and Ryan of Flanders were hurtin the most but were smart enough to keep some in the tank in order to hang in there for the full fight!! After being away for around ½ the race, gaps began to form in the breakaway as the finish line drew nearer. Gavi & Chauner managed to open one up (approx 100 or so ft up the road) with less than one lap to go… and no one wanted to make the effort to catch them. It was Lohner who made the big move and jumped hard. Dioslaki was the only one to respond. The two opened a gap on the 5 guys behind. They worked together and were within 50 ft or so of the Gavi & Chauner duo but then got caught and things messed around a bit. Enough so that Gavi & Chauner regained their 100 ft or so lead. Lohner made another huge attempt. Again it was Dioslaki right on his wheel. This was on the finishing stretch. Right ahead were Chauner & Gavi, but a bit too far to catch…Chauner took it with Gavi Epstein in 2nd. Lohner was now going for it and leading things out for the sprint for 3rd place at this point into a brutal headwind. Dioslaki jumped hard and came around Lohner with Raffie in tow. Dioslaki floored it and took the sprint landing 3rd. Ryan of Flanders beat Raffie & got 4th. Raffie was 5th. Lohner was 6th, then Bonoromow and finally Gorrette.

Hate to say but Tommeke had smoked them all, Big Time! Even with 6 SKY riders chasing, they couldn’t catch him! Boassen Hagen is a wannabe Classics rider! Just like Hushovd, he’s got a big ego!
lemme get this straight… 7 out of 10 B race finishers at Brinkerhoff are from NYC based teams? And this is at a relatively small local race series located in a town 120 miles from the city? Not hating, just in awe at the dedication of some of you guys.
Meh, you call it a relatively small local race, but all 3 fields are full, Canadian teams make the trip to do it and it’s a well run race with plenty of officials, wheel support etc. Worth the 2 hour trip if you have the time & ability to get there and a nice change from the regular courses we run in NYC. CBRC do a great job with this race.
Them NYC guys got no life.
You 20 year old racers should be ashamed to allow over the hill racers like DOCTOR J. Lohner to control and dictate CAT 1,2&3 races….and to think most of you want to turn pro…sigh
I once saw “balls out” at a certain parade in NYC, and it’s not something I’d like to see in a bike race.
you guys obviously didn’t make it into any breakaways recently…
Wha? Not making fun of Eugene, making fun of the misspelling.
Meanwhile, not balls out, but close

Over 40 racers dominating CAT 1,2&3 races? That does not speak well of the 20 year old lazy asses.
No shame in losing to a 40 year old every once in a while.
10,000 hour rule dingbat
Experience goes a long way. We old guys have learned how to spot a breakaway forming and how to recognize the preludes.
BTW, the 2 younger guys who got away from us were significantly better.
(and thanks Andy– i love that song)
Anyone in the breakaway had Di2 shifting? Did it give you and edge?
milliseconds count.
Over 40 is the new Di2.
I’m now pronouncing Boronomow like Geronimo.
schooling schmalz in witty shiticisms. really funny stuff!
CAT 1 here, I decided to take that job with the Chinese Restaurant delivering food. The racing in New York is not very challenging, as a matter of fact it is a downright joke. It is more exciting playing in New York traffic as a messenger or Chinese delivery personnel, plus the money is better.
Thanks
That’s it, I’m showing up at the next CRCA race with a delivery bike. All you haterz can draft my mu shu pork.
Are you over 40?
No but your delivery bill will be. Plus tip.
You can only race balls out in cocksackie
Are your balls bombproof?
Schweddy balls, mmmm. Good times.
