Vintage racing
It’ll be a classic New York spring weekend’s worth of racing coming up, so let’s explore internet-ically where these races will happen.
There’s a CRCA club race and men’s race clinic in Central Park on Saturday with a daylight savings friendly 7 am start time, information is here.
Branchbrook is still suspended while the world waits for some New Jersey pavers to get on with things.
On Sunday, the Spring Series moves to Prospect Park, registration is here.
And later on Sunday is the 2012 Outdoor Sport Center Bethel Spring Series – Tour de Kirche in Bethel CT.
also, the new york half marathon moves to lower manhattan, so good luck getting to and from the spring series
Yeah good luck there is only one street that goes from the north to the south oh Manhattan.
What side do numbers go on tomorrow?
The right one.
left side
Number right tomorrow. Numbers will right side all year unless you hear from us otherwise. This gets officials and the camera out of the jogger’s lane.
Duh! Check the CRCA website. Numbers go on the front of your chest for tomorrow’s club race. You can only use 1 pin.
Star light, star bright,
The first star I see tonight;
I wish I may, I wish I might,
Have at least half a brain to put my race numbers on right.
So the race number goes over your eyes, right?
Race Number Eye for the Directionally Challenged Guy

Yes Matteo. You can sleep in. The race starts at 7pm.
Say “Beetlejuice” 3 times and Foundation will disappear.

How is the Rapha guy? Dude needed to be taken away on a back board.
Maybe it was because they were Cat 5s………No
Maybe it was AVD’s fault………………….No
Maybe its bike racing and crashes happen……Probably
There was a loud pop. Not sure if the flat/explosion caused or was the result of the crash. Bad looking crash. Rapha, Blue Ribbon rider’s face was f-ed up and at least a few other dudes.
Olsen in a bright orange helmet. It has to be a Borat like bit.
In the Prospect Park P-1-2-3 it went down like this…it was a field of 79 racers. Avg speed was 25.5.
JP of Kiessena and Dioslaki of Metra were off the front for the 1st two laps allowing the 2 of them to be away long enough for the sun to rise. The quality of the road surface was a bit “Tricky†let’s just say, so at least while it was dark out, that seemed like a safer place to be.
After they were caught a countless number of attacks were launched and re-launched only to be reeled right back in. This group of 1-2-3’s caught and passed the Master’s Category as well as the Cat 4 Category (not necessarily in that order). Racers had obviously capitalized on the mild winter temperatures as the pace remained high and the field inevitably kept on coming back together.
But it wasn’t until the 1-2-3 group was heading into the last of 14-laps when the crucial and decisive move came. Dioslaki attacked hard at the base of the hill bridging himself along with Brian Breach and ????? (sorry, don’t know his name) up to Mike Perlberg of Kiessena and Ariel of Champion Sys who were slightly up the road. The five of them opened up a good gap and with the little bit of distance remaining in the race worked well together. That is, until the cat and mouse began right after the decent. From there, none of them wanted to be in front. And, of course, the main field drew nearer and nearer. As the finish line was coming ‘round, so was the main field. Dioslaki took the risk by jumping hard and going for it, but a bit too early. The others in the breakaway group quickly & tightly grabbed on and jumped aboard.
The field did not catch on…
So it ended like this:
1. Brian Breach of Mengoni took the win
2. Ariel of Champion Sys was second
3. Mike Perlberg was 3rd
4. Stephan Dioslaki in 4th
5. And sorry – ??? – don’t know your name was in 5th
Not sure of the rest, but I know Gavin Robinson made it into the top ten
