Welcome to the Tue, 08/19/2011 – 06:00 edition of Off Topic! You are looking at the next step in the evolution of VCN, the Off-Topic page. Have you ever been frustrated because you had a burning desire to call someone a sandbagger and could only hope to be timely by posting your comment to a photo gallery page or on a page describing a charity ride?
Well, your prayers have been answered! You can post your comment from the home page and it magically comes to rest here with the other orphans from the land of Misfit Comments. The page gets refreshed every day, but not to worry! Each day’s page will be archived and treasured, so you can look back on past pages with pride, shame or disgust-depending on how the day’s conversation went. So post away! We’ve got an internet to fill up.
yes please!
yes please!
more fall road races
There would be more cyclist training indoor velodrome then on 9W.
Charge them to use it.
Mike Green is leadind a group of folks that are trying to convert the armory in the Bronx into an indoor track. It actually is a perfect facility for it if they can convince the local pols.
What can we do to support the proposal for the track at the Kingsbridge Armory? That would be incredible for NYC cycling if it actually happened.
hence not the perfect place
we’re talking about an enormous, unused indoor space right off of the subway (4 train) and two blocks off Grand Concourse. It’s a straight shot north from Manhattan. Opportunities like this don’t come often. There’s even parking on the site so out of towners can drive in. Back in the day, there actually used to be a velodrome at Marble Hill/225th st where the Target now sits… not far from this location.
Matthais, We ALMOST has some prime space on 5th avenue, but they decided to put up an office building instead.
on the west side. just think how much stronger an olympic bid would be….
hopeful friday, there’s plenty of action this weekend for couch potatoes: vuelta Spain, Tour d’Limousin, Track in Colorado, track in Moscu
Then you could ride bunch of laps around Central park, or Prospect, or take a hike to west point along 9w
