Your welcome

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these, so I’m a bit out of practice. Please bare with me as I get back into the sling of things this week.

On Saturday, there’s a CRCA club race in Central Park.

On Sunday, there’s the Kissena Women’s Track Clinic. Sunday also has the big money Mangoseed Restaurant – W.S. United Race in Prospect Park.

Well, that wasn’t so bad, even if I just made it by the skim of my teeth.

Not seeing a lot of riders I crossed the line with in the results – we were in the top 20. Doesn’t really matter if we’re not top 10, but would be nice to at least get credit for the race and not be omitted entirely.

3 race was good too….Only criticism is that the high lap count and 6:45 start meant that the park was really crowded by the end. I would have been fine with an earlier start.
Overall though nice job and good formats….thanks to WS United for this!

Props to the Burrows brothers for putting on an excellent race!! Great job guys!!!! THANKS

Race was great, P12 was hard as hell and then watermelon at the finish. Better then any CP race this year.

Sunday

Guys put on a great race – very animated sideline commentary too. Only suggestion would be to have the race start earlier – park started to get real congested. Keep putting on the races – I’ll be sure to attend.

Props to the Burrows brothers and WSUnited! And to K. Harris for remaining a gentleman to the end. That is NYC racing -or what it can be.

Sommerville Sports has posted the results on USAC for todays race.

Mango Seed Prospect Park Race
Event ID# 2011-91
Date: 7/31/11

Some Notes:
The numbers for this event were VERY SMALL it was difficult to pick all the numbers for every rider. Did our best to list as many riders as possible that crossed the line. Thanks for understanding the delays in results today, under normal conditions using larger numbers that are correctly pinned greatly reduce results posting after the event.

If your name is not listed or you see gaps in the results its because:
A: We couldn’t see your number for a varied amount of reasons
B: You didn’t cross the line within a reasonable time frame

Finish Videos will be posted Shortly on Youtube.com and link will be provided.

Best,
David Sommerville

Everyone,
Below are some laps times for the event today.
There are some challenges with the laps in some events as I was busy doing other aspect of camera work and results.
These times are for REFERENCE ONLY and they reflect the 1st group in each category across the line per lap.

Example: The Pro12 did NOT turn a Sub 6 minute last lap, take some time from the precious slow lap, 10+ min and average them out.

Notes: Most laps in Prospect Park Races run in the mid 7 minute range for just about any category. See some “Slow” laps around mid 8 or 9 minutes?
Well, this is how another field can easily catch you over time as the standard start gaps are 1.5 minutes with 4 field, 2 minutes with 3 fields.

Best,
David Sommerville

Mangoseed Pro-1-2 Race Report from today: I clocked 61.33 miles with a 27.2 mph avg. The day unfolded with numerous attacks that were only to be caught again. After a bunch of fruitless attempts one finally stuck. It was Leigh Sorrell of Fiora-Frutta, Brian Breach of Mengoni, Stephan Dioslaki of Team Metra / Cycles 54, Mike Margerite of Stans No Tubes and Igor Volshtneny of Adler. This group motored away and opened up a hand gap. A while later, this group was joined by a hard working chase group consisting of Franklin Burgos, Paul Burrows of United, Raffeal Urzadowski of Northeast, Ennaus Frye of Target Training, Ken Harris of Adler. And so the solidity of group was complete. But not for long…Burrows got dropped. So did Leigh Sorrels. Driving the break super hard was Ken Harris, Mike Margerite, and Ennaus Frye. Franklin Burgos was dead weight as he couldn’t and or didn’t pull through. The rest of the group worked well, however. Igor scooped up not 1 but 2 sweeeeeeeeeeeeet Primes – one for $150 and the other for $200. Frye took a big flier with 2 to go and ended up soloing for an entire lap. That cost him dearly however as the breakaway group caught him with 1 to go. Dioslaki was all out of fluids and needed replenishment badly – asking fellow breakaway compatriots for an extra or spare bottle. Harris was kind enough to bail him out with around 1.5 laps to go. Coming up to about a ½ mile to go the cat and mouse game began. Ken Harris agreed to take the helm as he slowly but surely ratcheted things up to a screaming pace before all hell broke loose and the sprint began. It was Igor on teammate Harris’s wheel and then Dioslaki in 3rd position. Igor peeled off to the side, Breach came around from the back and Dioslaki remained in 3rd…and that’s how it closed out. Igor of Adler in 1st place. Breach of Mengoni in 2nd. Dioslaki of Metra / Cycles 54 in 3rd. Mike Margerite of Stans No Tubes in 4th. In between there was Rafael Urzadowski (in 5th I think), Ennaus Frye (in 6th I think) and Franklin Burgos (in 7th I think) rounded out by the last person remaining in the breakaway – Ken Harris in 8th place. Igor walked out of there with a ton of money today!!

Now that’s how to put on a race. Lot’s of laps and real good primes for the taking. We should have one at least once a month going forward.
