TEAM TYPE 1 CYCLISTS TO LEAD CENTRAL PARK BIKE RIDE IN SUPPORT OF HISTORIC UN SUMMIT ON NON-COMMUNICABLE DISEASES (NCD’S)
September 18th Ride Part of NCD Alliance’s “UNite for a Healthy Future” Event to Increase Awareness of the World’s Leading Killers: Diabetes, Cancer, Heart & Chronic Respiratory Disease
WHAT: To commemorate the 2nd Health Summit ever in the history of the United Nations on September 19 & 20, the NCD Alliance will host “UNite for a Healthy Future,” an afternoon rally to engage the public in the fight against diabetes, cancer, heart and chronic respiratory disease. Over 35 million people die of these Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD’s) every year, accounting for 60% of all global deaths, a focal point of the high level discussions by the world’s policy leaders.
The “UNite for a Healthy Future” event will feature a four mile bike ride through Central Park, led by cyclists from Team Type 1 — a global sports organization that is home to a men’s professional cycling team as well as six other squads spanning running, cycling and triathlon, all including athletes with diabetes.
“UNite for a Healthy Future” is free and open to the public. The event includes a variety of family activities and free health screening services. People of all ages and abilities are invited to participate.
