New race series at FBF

Something to do on Thursdays

DISCLAIMER: – Promoter reserves the right to shorten race distances due to weather conditions and/or time constraints. Promoter reserves the right to cancel, combine fields and/or reduce prize money if minimum fields are not met.
DIRECTIONS:
Getting to Floyd Bennett Field by Car: If you’re coming from the Brooklyn Queens Expressway, go east on the Belt Parkway. If you’re coming from the Verrazano Narrows Bridge, go east on the Belt Parkway. Belt Parkway to exit 11 South (Flatbush Avenue South). Travel one mile on Flatbush Avenue to last traffic signal before toll bridge (follow signs for Aviator Sports Complex). Make left turn into field. Make first left turn, and travel 1/2 mile to first right turn. Turn right and go to the end of the runway. Make another left and on the right side you will see the entrance to the parking lots for race parking.
Getting to Floyd Bennett Field by Bike: For Manhattanites, cross the Brooklyn Bridge. Go left on Tillary. Two blocks and take the right on Flatbush Ave-nue. Take Flatbush Avenue all the way there. You’ll climb through Park Slope, go around Grand Army Plaza so the Museum is on your left and the park on your right. And keep on going. Brooklynites have to get themselves to Flatbush and go.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Flat 2.3 mile course. The course has no protection from the wind and gusty winds have shredded fields in past races. Also, the road surface can be rough in spots. We do not recommend using lightweight wheels and tires. However, there will free laps for both the 3/4 and Pro 1,2,3 categories.
OVERALL SERIES PRIZES:
Cannondale Framesets will be given to the overall leader at the end of the series for women’s, 3/4 and Pro 1,2,3 categories!!! A wheelset will be given to the overall leader of category 5 series and trophies will be given to the juniors.

pretty cool, but its schedule puts it up against Rockleigh… not that both places aren’t a haul to get out to.

You can, if you want to go to Hell, as racing counter clockwise is the direction of the devil. But hey, it’s your soul…

wha

i always knew that CRCAssociates were the devil’s spawn

also, from where the devil is traditionally viewed as residing, racing counterclockwise appears like clockwise. (never mind how i know that.)

If someone can make it through both the Charlie series and this series in one piece, they should be examined like Bruce Willis in ‘Unbreakable’

ROCKLEIGH RULES!
FBF is a seriously mind and ass knumbing experience…but if thats what youre into…to each his own…

Lorenzo Chainsuck

who’s promoting this one?

FBF pavement is pretty marginal in terms of being raceable at this point. Maybe that adds to the “epic-ness” of it but its becoming a legit safety issue.

Taddeo Headbadge

fbf is not sketchy it is the best and hardest place to race it test your fitness and it’s a good place to race.

cd

you guys are babies. there was maybe 1 crash in the 1/2 field this year out of 15 races.

stop whining or stick to TT’ing.

Rinieri Compliant

The pavement at FBF is fine. Run a little less pressure to take the edge off. Admittedly rough when you fall, but it’s more than adequate for racing.

Lorenzo Chainsuck

Not a whine…I actually enjoy racing there… it is what it is. Just go there and do some laps some time when there isn’t a race going on…you’ll be amazed how bad it is. It is pretty borderline.

lower pressure is a good idea if you have tubulars or tubular clinchers. Can’t get away with that on regular clinchers you’re guaranteed to get a pinch flat.

Tuur Setscrew

Wow, so you will pretty much be able to race two weekdays and two weekend days in NYC all season long. Guess we will find out who the real lone wolf family-less psychos, I mean, real dedicated racers are.

Looks like there wont be 2 FBF races the same week…2 series, Thursdays April-June, then Tuesdays July-Sept.

The 18th Annual Tuesday Night Race Series at Floyd Bennett Field will take place every Tuesday night from May 3 to August 23.

How most race promoters wouldn’t even race their own events…
Any EMTs in training? Come on out to FBF!!!
But here’s my $20 x Tue/Thur, and $35 x Sat/Sun…
any neither will help get you better in the “real” races…that require skills like cornering, descending, climbing, hmmmmmm….
but go ahead NYC/Bkln/Queens…keep right on…

Lets all get together and head out in March and patch some holes at FBF. There is one big hole in turn 4 that gave me a pinch flat last year. I want to at least fill that one. It’s a no win situation at FBf. Run too much tire pressure and you are bouncing all over the place. Run too little and you will pinch flat. Can someone share the magic tire pressure that solves both problems?

Taddeo Headbadge

did anyone look at the price list this race pays better than any regular prospect park or central park race and it has a free lap for the pro,1,2,3 and 3,4 masters and primes in every race.

If this puts on you, your IFSA-Butler program advisor will certainly notify you.
Comprehensive directions regarding U.K. visas will be sent out to all students upon approval.

how do you know how this race is going to run you are criticizing the race series before it star.

Mael Torque

I just do whatever JFT and Scot tell me what to do. Whatever happened to those guys? And Baby Cobra. And Lee3 and TRI-guy? Need some new characters around this place. Did they all go over to talk cross at Cycling Reporter?

Millie and Tony

That’s 1993-2011 19th Annual Tuesday Twilight Racing Series 🙂 Glad to see they are still continuing. However, I strongly suggest that everyone read and comment on the Blue Ribbon Panel’s recommendation for Floyd Bennett Field. Part of the plan is to remove or bury several of the runways, to create a “forever wild” type area. If that happens, there won’t be a course to race on either Tuesdays or Thursdays

I posted it before and will post again: FBF needs a small cycling-specific circuit. If people could get behind building something like this (and help raise funds for it), then we’d have an awesome place to race. There are a bunch of these circuits throughout the UK. Here’s a 1mile long track:

Taddeo Headbadge

i agree with you 100% but this is what eat me up with alot of these people that call them self cyclist, this is what alot of them complain about quote we don’t have enough races, cycling and cyclist don’t get any respect in NYC, promoters EXCLUDE JUNIORS AND WOMEN’S FIELD. Now that someone find the opportunity to give us what we ask for some of these lusers that have absolutely nothing to do.Complain criticiz, so you jokers just be quiet and race your bikes and be happy that we get to race as much as we do something other city and state cyclist would be happy to have.

Safety first

Wow, that was a whole bunch of words put together in a seamingly random, incoherent manor. But I like your enthusiasm!

Peter Rubberstone

i know it’s entertaining to be a douche, but the post below yours isn’t all that hard to understand. ultimately, you end up sounding like an ahole devoid of reading comprehension skills.

Amine Sealant

nice!!! tuesday-race- wednesday -track-race-thursday-race-saturday-race-sunday-race, damn-if only I could quit my job and just race-wait-I need my job for all the entry fees-it’s really good to have options all week-no more training now-just racing-nice!!!!!!

Daan Housing

you guys are so lame. who gives a fuck about racing at FBF again? I’d rather do some intervals than go all the way out to this shithole. This whole scene is fucking gay, can I at least get a blow job?
