Dan and I got a call from Eric ‘Kyoo’ Min in early October, with what seemed like a crazy idea – create a fan-funded development team in time for the ’11 season. Kyoo had attended a presentation by Walter Bender of Sugar Labs, the operating system behind the One Laptop per Child project, and thought it was the perfect cause to promote with a cycling team. We made the connection to Jonathan Vaughters, and before we knew it we had a working group in New York fund raising to take over title sponsorship of JV’s Continental team.

We’re happy to report that the team is now a reality. We want to thank Shane Stokes for writing about the project for VeloNation, and we also thank Kyoo for bringing us in on this fun project. The working group consisted of Kyoo, JV, Walter Bender, David Greenberg, Joao Correia, Mike Sherry, and us.
