Welcome to the Tue, 12/02/2010 – 02:00 edition of Off Topic! You are looking at the next step in the evolution of VCN, the Off-Topic page. Have you ever been frustrated because you had a burning desire to call someone a sandbagger and could only hope to be timely by posting your comment to a photo gallery page or on a page describing a charity ride?
Well, your prayers have been answered! You can post your comment from the home page and it magically comes to rest here with the other orphans from the land of Misfit Comments. The page gets refreshed every day, but not to worry! Each day’s page will be archived and treasured, so you can look back on past pages with pride, shame or disgust-depending on how the day’s conversation went. So post away! We’ve got an internet to fill up.
this would play well in nyc….

who needs cycling center in NYC…
If anyone is interested…
Today is a vote for a 6 million dollar fund which can help support the Brooklyn Cycling Center which will be a world class velodrome, crit course and bmx park.trials.
Please get out and vote today Dec 2 from 3-8pm at PS 34 131 Norman Ave Greenpoint BK
Help make this a reality!
But, after all, who will be the next Dan C?
sure, nyc laying off hundreds of city employees and facing fiscal crisis, but spending 6 mil on a bike park will fly. uh-huh.
You never know…. How much did they shell out making 250 feet of bikepath at 90th street or whatever it is on the west side?
stay home and watch some TV.
this is the first I’ve ever even heard of the Brooklyn Cycling Center idea. I’d rather see NYVelocity give us the 411 on this than on some iPhone bike computer I’ll never use. Just sayin’
This should be front news not off topic
The money has been allocated. It’s only a question of what it will be used for. A world class velodrome plus BMX and a crit course will have a huge impact on cycling in the city. I think it’s a better choice than a boathouse or a biosculpture.

Bad for Kissna. Not enough track racers to support two Velodromes.
BTW – big news on CR – “Lisbon staying with Foundation”
where else would Lisbon go? Jamis? he already gets paid more than most domestic pros…and while Base Camp was a great (well timed) win, he didnt repeat the success at all, in many ways yo yo’d his form to have many doubting…
Good Luck Foundation! and NYC cycling…
who will be the next George Hincapie, Mike McCarthy, Hall of Fame Cyclist from NYC???
Lisbon would never leave his Guzman
E Stevens on HTC will win a big race this year and maybe WC now that she did her rookie year work duties/dues. Also, Dan C may do some real damage in CX over the next 5 years. Look for him in the next couple years.
Mentioning Dan C in the same context as Evie is a bit of a stretch. Lets keep things in perspective here.
Will Schmalz go two-fer at FBF?
You should be all over this not moving it to OFF-TOPIC!
Get out and vote or complain all winter how boring 9W is.
Everyone who wins the red hook crit goes pro, FACT.
9W may be very boring but we like it.
the next dan c.? who is the current one?
it’s a proposal, nothing has happened. we can’t even support one velodrome. 2nd. chabanov – great racer, not a pro, therefore, no, not everyone that won has gone pro
