Charlie I.

A Message From The Promoter: Thanks again for another great season of racing. In the 6 years I have been promoting I think this was the most competitive racing I have ever seen. From the early season March races I promoted at FBF, through the Lucarelli & Castaldi Cup, the races at Cedar Creek Park, the FBF Tuesday Night Series to today’s final race at FBF, everybody stepped up this year. I like to see good competiton and hard racing while all the time keeping in mind these are friendly local competition bicycle races. A big thanks to all the officials, pacers, marshals and everybody else who works behind the scenes to make these race possible. I’m already looking forward to 2011! God, I really need a life!

Brief Race Report: The Kissena only field started 2:30 ahead of the Pro/1-2-3 field and with everybody racing for the same prize list the Pro/1-2-3 riders had to catch the Kissena riders in order to place. It’s been 3 years since the Pro/1-2-3 riders caught the Kissena field but that’s when the race was in Prospect Park. This year the race was being held at Floyd Bennett Field and nobody knew what to expect. The Kissena field rolled off and immediately organized themselves for the 17 laps of wind and suffering. Let’s fast forward and leave out the boring details: The Pro/1-2-3 field slowly brought down the deficit and when the gap hovered at 35 seconds with 4 to go it looked like the Kissena riders might stay away again. But with only 2 laps to go the Pro/1-2-3 field made contact and now the fireworks started. With one lap to go Kissena’s Joaquim de Baca came through the start finish line with a small gap on the strung-out field. He was caught soon after and a barrage of counter-attacks started. As the riders approached the final straightaway, Kissen’s Jan Micko launched a powerful attack. Mengoni’s Brian Breach gave chase but could not catch Micko and ended up second. Giancarlo Bianchi (WS United) rounded out the podium in 3rd.

agree with Charlie that this was the most competitive year in a long time. unfortunately also the most dangerous.

Wheelsucker

Is this man screaming in pain because someone put Icy Hot on his chamois, or is he singing “Oklahoma!”? Discuss.

Wheelsuckered

Scott Savory. Not a rower as far as I know, but did start getting out to the track this season with good results.

Wheelsucker

He’s the best looking guy on Adler…Maybe if he does well they’ll buy him one of those smart Ridleys
