Welcome to the Tue, 09/15/2010 – 02:00 edition of Off Topic! You are looking at the next step in the evolution of VCN, the Off-Topic page. Have you ever been frustrated because you had a burning desire to call someone a sandbagger and could only hope to be timely by posting your comment to a photo gallery page or on a page describing a charity ride?
Well, your prayers have been answered! You can post your comment from the home page and it magically comes to rest here with the other orphans from the land of Misfit Comments. The page gets refreshed every day, but not to worry! Each day’s page will be archived and treasured, so you can look back on past pages with pride, shame or disgust-depending on how the day’s conversation went. So post away! We’ve got an internet to fill up.
Race what you want to race. If you can afford it, train on it, race on it, whatever. Who gives a sh+t what people think. Don’t let anyone count your money. You want to put an SRM Wireless on your CX bike, do it. It is your CX bike. F it, race Lightweights on it as well. If you didn’t buy this expensive equiptment, it was not like you were going to give the money to me. The more you spend on our sport, the better it is for us. Just try to buy it local and not online if you can.
This is almost like a Husker Du lyric
“don’t worry about the result, and the effect it has on your career.”
hey guys the nyvelodrome link doesn’t work…
they’re coming.
i will never be able to understand why guys race tubs. until i have my own mechanic, ill be on clinchers. armadillos, too, since you can’t win if you flat.
Is the “laid back vibe” of cross in jeopardy?
No longer have the patience for all the work- including mounting and patching busted tubs- but I will miss the quality of the ride: it is really nice to roll on a set of primo tubulars…Dugasts are worth the money, just not the energy to maintain them.
I have been trying tubless…it is not far off from tubular in terms of ride (big tire a plus) and much easier to work on.
“Laid back vibe” sounds like a personal moment.
Adam Meyerson was racing with a powertap this weekend.
Also this gal uses one:

so, you should have given up a long time ago.
They are top pros in CX. I am talking guys and gals with Powermeters in the Cs and Bs and old guy races. Pros can do what they want just because…
I see your point. Tubulars in the C race is funny.
Less genetically gifted guys should not have access to the nicer cycling products I suppose. And cyclists wonder why the general public hates them.
you guys who are defending cat 4 finish line expletive explosions and cyclocross c-race powermeters … eh, fuck it. enjoy yourselves. if this keeps you from going patrick bateman on the rest of us, fine.
Guys looked at me as if I had 2 heads when they heard I was racing on Clinchers. C fields on carbon bikes, with Dugast Tubulars… Its getting out of control. The second I see Powermeters on CX bikes is the day I give up CX and focus on charity rides.
