Off-Topic for 05/11/2010 – 02:10

Welcome to the Tue, 05/11/2010 – 02:10 edition of Off Topic! You are looking at the next step in the evolution of VCN, the Off-Topic page. Have you ever been frustrated because you had a burning desire to call someone a sandbagger and could only hope to be timely by posting your comment to a photo gallery page or on a page describing a charity ride?

Well, your prayers have been answered! You can post your comment from the home page and it magically comes to rest here with the other orphans from the land of Misfit Comments. The page gets refreshed every day, but not to worry! Each day’s page will be archived and treasured, so you can look back on past pages with pride, shame or disgust-depending on how the day’s conversation went. So post away! We’ve got an internet to fill up.

Thanks but no thanks!…and don’t get me started on idiots with carbon clinchers…srm’s, gps, I know i won’t be missed, but seriously, I will enjoy some sleep, some cash, and still be fit enough to drop any of you on River Road, Gimbel’s, Perkins…
nice not having to follow this site either…that’s a huge benefit!!!

All the best to Lez,
hope the sketchy riders and greedy promoters get what’s coming to them

Same guys will be in the winning break in the 1-2.

An Empire/AXXA guy (Zmolnick, Hurst …), Roger, Freye if he races, a Canadian and Dillon or Lindine. Why is the Cat 3 field so small 50 guys?

8:33 just tallied up his bill for all of last year and year-to-date for bike gear, bike coaching, life coaching, dating coaching, sex toys, escorts, and chinese hamster epo, and came to the sad realization that he’s still a cat 5.

I find it interesting that us racers need to justify why we spend, ride, train to the insane levels to just race the Cat2-4 races (aka weekend warrior status). At the same time, as soon as one of us decides racing is just too much, or no long fits into our lives, we need to put as much energy into telling everyone why racing is bad and why our decision to quit racing makes so much sense. I did this when I first stopped racing road. Now I just enjoy riding my bike on the weekends fastish and the occassional group ride and off road and CX race. If you want to rock a $15k bike and spend $5k on race entry fees then go for it. IF you want to ride an old Caad 5 until it dies and just ride solo thats cool also.

Are just fast Cat 3s. Thats why in real races they are not included with the 1s. I love how a Cat 2 chimed in all defensive because they define themselves by their racing category. If your not doing this for the money and you have a day job then yes, Cat2s and even 1s are essentially weekend warriors. Some just ride faster and race longer than others.
