Due to a weekend filled with egg-based activities and my Flanders spoiler-preventative media blackout on Sunday, I am not up to date on my local racing results, join me now as I scour the internet for the smallest tidbits of parks based accomplishments.
At the CRCA race on Saturday, Lisban Quintero of Foundation wins the A race from a break. Greg Waggoner of Sid’s wins the B race. Ann Marie Miller of Houlihan-Lokey/Sanchez wins the women’s race. Matthew Vandivort of Nyvelocity wins the C race. Results are here.
No results yet for the Sandy Hook Time Trial, but you can get to the pictures here.
Not a lot of information coming from the Saturday Spring Series Race at Prospect Park, the internet says that Mark Light soloed away to win the Pro/1/2/3 race. Tom Luzio of Wonder Wheel won the Master’s race. Michael Perlberg of Kissena won the 3/4 race. The Spring Series twitter feed is here.
Johnny Cakes remains as inscrutable as ever, and no results for the Sunshine Criterium either.
At the Spring Series on Sunday in Central Park, Gavi Epstein of Foundation won the Pro1/2/3 race. Steve Marmo of Setanta won the 3/4 race. Gary Steinberg of Brauer won the Master’s race. Nicholas David of Propeller Racing won the cat 5 race. No race results have been twitted yet, check here for info. Finishing sprints are here. Photos are here and here.
On a personal gloating-based note, an editor for a site that writes about bikes asked for my 1-2-3 prediction for Flanders, which I said was Cancellara, Boonen and then Flecha. They didn’t run the piece, so here is my explanation from Thursday:
Fabian will be able to use his teammate Breschel to work over Boonen in a break. Breschel owes Fabian for his teamwork from Dwars Door Vlaanderen, and Fab will be cashing that check.
Devolder has spent this spring on the side of a milk carton, which means Boonen will get dive-bombed by Spaniards and Danes until he cannot react any more, allowing either Cancellara (most likely) or Flecha (not as likely, but my sentimental favorite—if you don’t like Flecha, you simply don’t like bike racing) to get away. Boonen will sullenly ride in for the sprint for second.
And Pippo has the runs, I just wanted to add that.
Yes, I realize the predicting that Cancellara would win is like predicting that Courtney Love will fall down sometime in the future, but it’s better to be correct than clever.

DAAAAAAAAMN! CRCA is getting violent!

say that if a guy on a folding bike beats you in a race, you drop a category.
Foundation’s victories are not impressive at all since they just got back from Redlands and San Dimas. Everyone else has been here slushing around in the rain. Impressive are the guys that are neck and neck with them having been here all winter. Let’s see if they’re still winning in a month and a half.
That’s awesome logic.
Get out of the cubicle much, do you?
Sketchy McSketchballs on the folding bike was more likely to drop you to the pavement than down a category. CRCA needs to say something to that guy.
its not legal at all
from usa cyling:
“The overriding principle required for frame design is a “double triangleâ€, the front
triangle formed by the seat, top and down tube, the second formed by the seat tube and
rear wheel stays.”

Not out yet – or am I looking in the wrong place?
wheel size is also an issue.
as long as we’re on obscure, unenforced rules, it’s also illegal to wear any jersey other than that of a uscf club. if unattached, then you’re supposed to wear a plain jersey. so, the people wearing Pro Tour replicas aren’t supposed to even be allowed to start.

you mean i can’t rock my y-foil or my softride?

Only problem I see is that the top tube appears too long, which probably lead to the squirrelyness complained of.

for crca they cant enforce until the crca jerseys are in stock and the weather is warmer.

Butler or Duke?
That second video is sweet, at 2:40 you can see Boonen’s heart almost stop
Why are the Lucarelli & Castaldi PP races $7 more than the Spring Series?
We already had this argument. The answer? Stop being a squid.
especially since the Spring Series total payout is $1050, compared with $785 for the (long Italian names) Series
Squid? Not a clue what that means. Could someone be so kind as to summarize the end result of the argument for an infrequent visitor to this forum? I’m not upset, or being squiddish (I think), just curious.

Any word on Bear Mtn. registration?
Now it opens on the 9th
We are you dudes dickblocking Stijn DeFolder? Did he crash you out? Your “teammate” is more likely to crash you out when his $3000 Zipps catch a cross wind descending to the base of HH and he sweeps the field, Johnny. Seriously, STFU. That stands for: SHUT. THE. FUCK. UP.
Stijn DeFolder, that’s funny. The rest made no sense.
still get a cold sweat thinking about the nitwits in close proximity descending brandon gap at 50+ on deep aero zips and such

is the REAL DEAL holyfield. Sick legs on dirt and Road!! + if his lady rode womens series it’ll all but over pretty quick.
Results dont lie. look it up..the #’s are impressive.
Those vid links rocked!!
That race was sick. Cool to see Miller dig somethin up too.
I read H’Capie’ words. I Thought Sky had good legs too. They were drillin the front with Saxo all day right up until the climbs that counted.
Fabian used the same strategy at the worlds last yr but was marked too much. This time it worked like swiss clock.

start the whining. there r now only 4 fields at bear being run one at a time. crca.net has an update.
that is a proper compromise.
really have to wonder what they were thinking with the first version.
That the bike folds, or not, makes no difference. The following are relevant rules:
1m1.
(a) Bike no longer than 2 meters and no wider than 75cm.
(c) wheels may have spokes or solid construction
(f) recumbents not allowed
1M3.
(b) bicycle with freewheel and a working brake on each
wheel.
Only if you are riding in a race the selects 17-18, U23 and elite riders for international competition do you have to meet the stricter, and in some ways ridiculous, UCI rules.
So the folding bike is fine. Squirelly riding is not good. If you see that, you should speak to an official who should then speak to the rider.
Where are you getting those rules from? It needs to have a minimum wheel size met as well as a standard double triangle frame. Both of which are not being met.
What’s next aero bars?
Results for Spring Series – guy just flat out doesn’t post them, put them up, twitter them, or are they in some place I am not looking
it’s been said so many times, but i’ll say it once more.
if you placed, you know it already. if not, it doesn’t matter.
thanks.
true that
wrong again
There are people and teams interested in the points series. Some sort of update from time to time would be appropriate. It shouldn’t have to come down to ‘if you placed you know how you did.’
It doesn’t seem likely that the park service is going to have Hudson Drive cleared in time for the time trial a week from Sunday. They’re ‘hoping’ to get it done over the next few weeks. But it didn’t sound very promising. Is there an alternative race possible or does it get canceled?
Van Dunk is too busy assembling a box van filled with street people to clear the TT course to update results. Give the guy a break.
those are straight out of the USCF rule book page 52. Where are you getting minimum wheel size and double triangle from?
