Welcome to the Tue, 02/20/2010 – 02:10 edition of Off Topic! You are looking at the next step in the evolution of VCN, the Off-Topic page. Have you ever been frustrated because you had a burning desire to call someone a sandbagger and could only hope to be timely by posting your comment to a photo gallery page or on a page describing a charity ride?
Well, your prayers have been answered! You can post your comment from the home page and it magically comes to rest here with the other orphans from the land of Misfit Comments. The page gets refreshed every day, but not to worry! Each day’s page will be archived and treasured, so you can look back on past pages with pride, shame or disgust-depending on how the day’s conversation went. So post away! We’ve got an internet to fill up.
Think the UCI got a late night mystery phone call from someone about digging a little deeper into a certain bike that happens to be ridden by a certain rider? You know, just to gum up the works a little, psychological warfare-style…

Cyclists Racing Tonight At Emmaus VFW
Delaware State Champ Wim Daniels Leads Series
Bicycle racing with cyclists perched on sets of vintage wooden rollers returns tonight to its home Lehigh Valley base. With the USA’s only indoor velodrome located on the West Coast, roller racing offers cyclists and fans the chance to experience their sport indoors in anexciting, entertaining atmosphere. “It is very much like indoor track racing,” said David “Goliath” Espinoza, riding for Affinity and considered one of the country’s best young pro riders. “The fans are up close around us, they wine and dine, cheer. It’s cool”.
Tonight is the fourth event in the eight race series. The overall leader with 52 points is Newark Delaware’s Wim Daniels, riding for Services Environmental. Espinoza is second with 40 points, followed by Matt Diefenbach of Alliance Enviornmental with 36 points and Jackie Simes of Cycle Loft with 33 points. All four will race tonight.
New York’s Andrew LaCorte, riding for Affinity, was to make his first Championship Roller Racing appearance but withdrew his entry. “I don’t understand why he bailed,” said LaCorte’s longtime rival Diefenbach. “You get up there, stick it on the line, blow up. That’s roller racing. What’s he afraid of?”
Pro men race a one mile distance while the women’s class goes .6 miles. There is also an open category for anyone wishing to give the .6 mile distance a try. Racing starts a 6:30 pm with individual qualifying time trials and continues with qualifiers going head to head two at a time through quarter finals, semi finals, and finals, with awards around 9:30 pm. The events are open to the public and food is available.

Odessa let the dogs out before bed and the owl tried to take one of our other dogs, and we think Troop
