“with any reasonable hill she could have won harlem…” dude, that’s the point of harlem…no hill…are you suggesting we should rip up the streets and create a hill just so she can win the event? It’s OK to NOT win everything. I can’t believe the ideas that come out and the pressure people put on her….unlike most people on here, I think she’s out there to actually have fun.

… Oh right, she only took fifth. Bummer. After winning Housatonic, by seven minutes. In front of everyone else. Right, she sucks.
Andy
It’s a joke, settle down. Evie’s greatness is undisputed.

Evie should win by one minute and save something for later in the day? She is class, no doubt, and with any reasonable hill she could have won Harlem, but a 4 corner crit with 400m straights, and a field that is scared to race her, instead marks her every move, of course it will be a field sprint…which reminds, who won? Some PA trackstar?
How about a panel of the podium, all categories (sponsors would love that!)? Get their emails, have them respond individually, or on some Dan/Andy moderated chatroom?
Dan rode a great race! Only Moreau or Virenque make better “face”!!! sure you ain’t French?
(joking!)

Yeah that’s my “French face”

wtf? she is an amazing talent, but she is pretty new to racing, and crits are a different kind of race. none of those girls looked scared of her– the hub racers were attacking throughout, and the girl who won is a track rider. ease up on the pedestal stuff with evie….it’s a mixed blessing for her.

The comment “and a field that is scared to race her, instead marks her every move” is just not true — there were lots of attacks in the women’s field, not just sitting on Evie. There were 2 riders from a DC based elite team who were attacking and countering a lot during the race, in fact one of them gave her teammate, Veronica Martinez a half lap lead out, with Evie sitting in on them. Veronica is actually a 17 times Argentine National champion and Pan Am medalist – came in 4th after being nipped at the line by jamie nicholson. Great race ladies!

Ok. Evie won the Housatonic and then spent the afternoon in front of the Harlem field.
She is officially the best riders I have ever seen.

how cool is it that the NYV idoterati are arguing about women’s racing…

SHUDDA! raced with a brain bucket/wind tunnel optimized wheels, skinsuit, booties…like Olsen.
CUDDA! saved some energy and not won a local race by 7 minutes…that would have been lapping the field 3 times at Harlem???
WUDDA! raced smarter to blow out the sprinters early instead of waiting too little too late…
just saying,
and believe it or not Ripley, I am a HUGE fan of Evie, but forreals!
