Welcome to the Thu, 03/26/2009 edition of Off Topic! You are looking at the next step in the evolution of VCN, the Off-Topic page. Have you ever been frustrated because you had a burning desire to call someone a sandbagger and could only hope to be timely by posting your comment to a photo gallery page or on a page describing a charity ride?
Well, your prayers have been answered! You can post your comment from the home page and it magically comes to rest here with the other orphans from the land of Misfit Comments. The page gets refreshed every day, but not to worry! Each day’s page will be archived and treasured, so you can look back on past pages with pride, shame or disgust-depending on how the day’s conversation went. So post away! We’ve got an internet to fill up.
Comment of the day for March 25, 2009, I’m always a sucker for “Don’t Pay the Ferryman” references.

Kirk Flinte who is the Interactive Director (website manager) for Hincapie Sportswear tweeted that Tyler may have tested positive at the Tour of California. The ramifications of the US Road Champ testing positive? I can’t even begin to imagine. Yikes.
suspiciouser and suspiciouser
A monumental load of crap:

I have the will to go to the bathroom a few times before each ride, and welcome it. My relationship with that quiet-closing Kohler toilet bowl lid, my ability to tolerate it, cope with it, and even use it, is the single most interesting aspect of my character, and one thing no one can doubt about me.
no mention of any tests:

Jenkins is kind of like Milo Minderbender here, trying to get us all to eat chocolate-covered cotton for the good of the syndicate.
If Jenkins is Milo, who’s Yossarian? Frankie Andreu?
ToC Doping Rumor… [Updated: the Dangers of Twitter]

Kirk Flinte who works for a cycling company tweeted that Tyler may have tested positive at the Tour of California. The ramifications of the US Road Champ testing positive? I can’t even begin to imagine. Yikes.
Edited: Kirk Flinte deleted all tweets related to the issue at approximately 12:55pm today. The original tweet read, “Tyler Hamilton positive at ToC?”
If this turns out to be false all I can say is wow. What would motivate some one to start a rumor like that?
Chris here — We are not a source for this rumor. As ZoeRochelle makes clear, she was simply reporting on the fact that a person connected to the sport was twittering about a possible rumor. Make of it what you will, but this story is pretty close to baseless, and I think rumors like this are too explosive to go on unchecked. I will leave this fan post up because ZoeRochelle has done a good job clarifying and updating, and because the discussion below is a good example of how people should treat unfounded rumors.
