Post my ride 4

Just a regular 380 watts ride

This week, we have another race file. An ordinary file from an ordinary guy at an ordinary Cat 4 time trial at Sandy Hook. And this guy did 380 normalized watts for 15:58. And that was not enough to win. Proving once again, that Category 4 is absolutely badass.

Does anyone else think it odd that someone Andy’s size ‘only’ went 26.2 mph at 380W? Was he wearing a cape on his beach cruiser?

Sorry…googled results and quickly looked and saw you rode 15:58…so, what did you average to do so?
How big you be? height/weight/CdA

So why doesn’t this guy just break away at every club race and solo for the win? Just wondering? Seriously, I doubt any Cat 4 team would be able to chase down a guy doing 380 watts for 15 minutes.

Andy

Peak 5 min 394, 10 min 380, peak 20 N/A ’cause it was a 16 minute effort. Not cannibal, full aero setup I think. This guy doesn’t do club races.

BTW – Chodroff is ripping Mr Vegan a new one over on PE. Pretty funny (A) that Chodroff is even responding to the Vegan (B) that Vegan thinks he has a clue…

chodroff wears the same tight lil’ outfit as some extremely good racers and no doubt has a very impressive CP30 and all that but should not be ripping on anyone.

The TT Vegan thing isn’t funny, interesting, or worthwhile. DUDE! He is just a clueless potter. And if he is having fun over in the Phillipines then all the power to him. Better to be sincere and clueless than a snarky, pissy, brat. Why do cyclists act like 14 year old girls? Why?

all fun and games. I just finally cracked and am doing what everyone has been wanting to do for the last month or two. So, yes I cracked, could no longer be mature about it, and had to give it a dig. No “elitist” standards here. Even if I was just a recreational cyclist, the dude would still bug the shit out of me.

Just keep your head in the big game Chodroff. You don’t need to read his posts. It is not like you’re racing against the guy and need to get fired up. Yer wasting your time.

I’ve made some changes and deleted some posts. Strictly, about a race of epic standards with documented evidence 🙂

Svein Tuft would say live and let Vegan live, and that Vaughters is a dork even though he pays my check, eh? Go Canucks.

Svein look to sky and wind for finding destination, not understand satellite thing. Svein need to dunk head in river and grab wild salmon with bare teeth. Grrr…Svein hungry.

April 1, I’d swear that articles and stories about Tufts were a put on. This guy gotta get the NYVC interview treatment.

Gotta…

He probably doesn’t breakaway because he only averaged 26 mph at his 380 watts. I would think the pack could do that and catch him.

Take a 13.5 minute CP lap (did the 4s ever even do a 13.5 minute CP lap in 2008?). Go to Saris.com:

http://www.saris.com/powercalculators.aspx

170lb rider. 18lb bike. 71 inches tall. 376 watts.

Even if that calculator is off by a bit, it still would be a safe bet that you could stay away from the 4s with that power alone, not to mention what you could do with a break mate.

Sure, 4 guys could swap off 400 watt pulls … but how many teams are organized enough to do that?

Anonymous

You dont have to hold that power the whole breakaway. More of a 5 minute 400 watt effort and then settling in at a 300-325watt effort. The key is the first 5 minutes of the break.

Don’t forget that you have to escape first. There’s no free headstart in a pack full of freelancers. 15 min power is meaningless until you get away.

I just used the calculator at that site, and it turns out that I am the winner of the first spring series race. Thank god for the ability to calculate my numbers like that, now I don’t have to get up in the freezing cold just to prove it.
