New bike!

My first priority in a bike is the color blue. I think this explains why I let my white bikes get so dirty. The drivetrain is clean enough for most purposes, but the frame suffers. My first 10 speed was a black Univega. Then I had my dream metallic blue Columbus SL Moser, which I kept pretty clean until I went to college, where it spent too much time outside. For some reason I thought I would be several inches taller than my dad, so I ordered a 57cm.

Now I ride a 50cm. My first old-guy racing bike was a mostly white and some blue Colnago with some ugly flourescent green and pink highlights.

Most recently my black and white Fetish, which served me well rubber side up and down for the last 2.5 years. This was my dirtiest and winningest bike.

Now I’m on to a new Van Dessel Rivet, a full-carbon job in black, white and red in that order. So why not just buy a blue bike? Next time I will, I swear it.

I’ll do a full review soon, after I’ve ridden it. I’m also giving up on Speedplays. I just don’t have the anal retentive qualities required to maintain them, and I’m tired of pedaling on ice cubes.

Last time I was in the family hometown my mom gave me a box of photos with some really embarrassing pictures of me wearing my skid lid. Hopefully those will feature in future updates.

As a quick note, I recently swore I would never buy FSA again, especially cranks, but there they are. A new pair came with the frame. Stay tuned for the exciting details of an amateur BB30 installation.
