Continuum Cycles

Shop information

Continuum cycles is another shop relatively new to the scene – opened in June of 2007 at 199 Avenue B in Manhattan. Continuum boasts a wide array of hard to find vintage and track bikes which rotate in and out regularly. Phil Wood hubs are practically stuffed behind the counter and Campagnalo and Miche parts are in abundance. The shop is tucked into a smallish-storefront, and you can recognize the shop from about two blocks away by the load of bikes stored out front.

The cheaper commuter three speeds and older bikes here start at around 175, and for some of the fanciest, rarest models, prices can climb into the thousands. A standard flat fix here comes out to around 14.00 after tax, and the shop offers a 15% discount for all NYC messengers in addition to sponsoring a messenger racing team – “Team 6”.

Most Ultegra, Campy, and other high end parts can be ordered here with some wait, and you can expect to pay between 85-100 for a 10spd Ultegra cassette. Continuum also retails all Surly, Soma, and Torreli models. Check out this shop if you are interested in a rare track or vintage Colnago frame. This shop stays open late most nights, including Sundays.

about a month ago my bike was stolen. i called every shop i knew. nobody really cared and didnt really ask me any questions until i called continuum. Jeff answered and was like..hold on let me get a pen..it was obviosly busy in the shop from the back ground noise but he still took the time to take my info patiently. He asked me lot’s of questions and said that he would put out a mass text to everyone he knew to keep an eye out for it on the streets plus he said he would put out an email as well. he suggested that i got to the forums and let everyone know and that i should check craigslist for it. after hanging up the phone i felt much more relieved that other people were actually looking for my bike. the NYPD did not care what so ever. they told me that i would never see my bike again and that it was just a bike. One officer actually ask me why i was wasting his time with a bicycle theft? i couldnt believe it! so 2 days later i get a call from continuum cycles telling me that they think they know where my bike is. That someone texted jeff about seeing a guy delivery food on a bike that fit the description in the west village. I ask him where exactly and pedaled my ass off to the west village where the guy who contacted jeff was holding the guy until i arrived. Though the delivery guy wasnt the guy who took it. He had bought my bike for 50 bucks from another delivery guy who broke his arm on it not knowing how to ride a track bike..my bike was fine and i did give the guy 50 bucks for it..i would have never gotten it back if it wasnt for cont.cycles thanks jeff!

Jeff, Amanda, and Fritz are simply the best. No attitude unlike almost all the other shops in NYC and they are so helpful. If you have not gone over there to say hello, see what they have then you should.

They also have a sister shop on Lenox Ave and 123rd street. Spencer aka “El Presidente” runs the show up there and just got a friend on a Moth fixie in one day.

I went in with a frame and a front fork and they built a superb bike for me. Jeff and Fritz and the rest of the people there were great. Couldn’t recommend it enough.
