Still lazy, another DIY hangover.
Prospect, looks like Rob Lattanzi got a win. Who else?
Big crash at Mt. Holly.
Evil rears it’s ugly head again, this time in disguise. Newly formed Bandits win CRCA club race, Jeff King races in argyle socks.
Roger Aspholm and Orville Riffelmacher both top ten at Owasco. Jon Orcutt 12th in the 3/4, Rufus Pichler 13th, Eric Berend 15th, Francisco Liuzzi 16th. David Taylor 2nd in the masters. NYVC’s own Chris Price 3rd in the 4/5, and Kendall Dwyer 8th in the women’s.
Prospect Park is a great track and the race itself is solid….that said, I simply can’t figure out why the promotore consistently botches the easy stuff. It takes forever to get paid, if you knew what the payouts were going to be, wouldn’t you put them in an envelope the night before and hand them out…..and lastly, if you are going to run a race, post it on bikereg, and require a USCF license you should be required to post and have correct results…..so that means you need a REAL CAMERA to view the results. I am an out of towner who drives to these races, and I still will, but I think local NY racers should request simple stuff like this be fixed as there were 35 pissed off racers waiting around on Saturday morning…Women saying "I have kids at home, can I please get paid"….it is such a simple fix, the actual race is great, the organziation is not.
Navs Chadwick & O’loughlin take 1-2. Van Ulden takes 4th and the sprint jersey, and then Langutin wins the buch sprint for 6th! Geeeez guys. Leave some money for everybody else!
anyone know where the results are?
Edgemont – Saw a couple of good break attempts by AA and Matt but nothing would stick. You guys had a great looking train set up around TOG. What happened?
Come out to the Kissena Prospect Park Race this Saturday. It is another promoter (Charlie I.). You will notice the difference.
i had a thought as the race official was giving us the pre-race word on saturday at prospect…they warned us about the squashed (so,…slippery) dead rat on the descent on the back of the course. gosh, i thought, if charlie were here he might have REMOVED the squashed and slippery dead rat remains.
btw, it was indeed there on the descent, and it did indeed look slippery.
the PP race in the 4’s is always a joke. the sprint is so dangerous as every joker thinks they have legs on the downhill and then just push their way through without regard for anything and w/o any good handling skills. this is all so they can sprint for 8th place. it sucks.
yeah, i know, i need to break away next time.
That’s how you get to the front in a sprint, you’ve got to push your way through. If you think there’s some bumping in the 4s wait until you get to the 123s – though at least they have some good handling skills. If you don’t want to contest the finish just float to the back. Who cares if you’re 20th or 40th? Seems like there were a lot of crashes last year and previous ones but very few in PP all this year in all the categories.
sometimes i wish that hill was twice as steep and twice as long just so most of the races wouldn’t end in a bunch sprint. but then again, that would really hurt, so maybe the smallish hill is for the best. đ
A couple of Edgemont guys confessed to me after the race they had a less than stellar "Blue Train" finish at Cat’s paw. They’re ggod guys and were complimentary of JB and Brownlie. I belive they said (with a smile) "Who the F%ck are those guys?"
Yay Justin Brown & Steve Brownlie (NYVC) Yay Beer!
Thanks for posting our Bandit Racing team photo above; I think our new team kit looks good. Great action shot of jumping Evil Matt Howard winning the CRCA race yesterday on the left and a flexing Armand on the right. I was tired after eating a large lunch and had to sit down.
I think you slightly doctored the photo on the left? Becuase Matt’s normal weekend cape is a darker red; but Armand looks the same.
Next time we will get our other two team members in the photo: Justin Lubeley and Ryan Tie.
Great B race yesterday! Lots of break attempts and overall solid agressive riding in what turned out to be (I beleive) a clean race. Each team seemed like they had a plan and rode very well. But in the end it was the two NYV dudes Brown and Brownlie (are those your real names?) that smoked me on each side and vault NYV into the B Cup lead over my beloved Jonathan Adler squad. Congrats to you both and to your team. And yes, you are welcome for the lead-out.
See you 8/20.
Prospect surface smooth
Central Park still a potholed mess
therefore a crash fest.
How big are that dudes arms who is just kicking it on the bike with the walkman…..you have to love that stuff, it is classic NYC racing.
At the Freedom Tour in Sterling, NJ, Jason Snow won both the 35+ and the P-1-2 races. David Clinger was 2nd or 3rd in the P-1-2.
Luis Perez of SNET took 7th in the 3’s.
Can’t find full results. Anyone?
…that at a Greg Avon race, you race, win or place, do a bunch of cool-down laps, go get breakfast and come back and get paid at 10:00 or 10:30.
Yeah, take note of the different promoters in Prospect: Charlie I’s races are very smooth. The other main promoter (Greg Avon) … not so much. He’s done a lot for cycling but his events could be better. And they should start earlier. 645 is too late in the summer in an nYC park. especially since they start late. I’ll still go to Avon races because I’m an addict. But try not to place as I’ve got places to go LOL
I just want to add how lucky we all are that no one went away in an ambulance during the 4 race in pp on sat. That is one sketchy race! There’s a ton of weekend warriors with terrible handling skills. Its just dangerous…
i agree with the late start time. it’s basically 7am when everyone is on the course. during hot days in the summer there are just too many people there already.
Yeah and dont forget the 25 pre reg guys vwhos name didn’t show up on the lists so we had to wait around for Greg to show up!
Tony Settel is a poser…. cramping my style..

-green is good
happened on lap 2: torrential rain..55 kph..cant see anything, guy hits deck about 25 guys back, 40 ppl actually crash, 50 more get stuck behind..race goes from 140 guys to 50 guys..dozen more flat out..yay
What happened to the Edgemont train at the Sunday B race? The sprinter blew up. Other than that I think the team did a great job.
I got top 30 there once due to a big crash on the last lap….but they didn’t pick me :{
Advil Chapstick takes first leaders jersey at Toona yesterday
I doubt he reads these message boards, so maybe you should talk to the promoter instead of whining here. I spoke to Greg Avon about this same issue and he has been trying to hire the same camera guy that Charlie has been using, but he had not been available until this past Saturday. Also, there had been issues with the quality of the official handing the results. Things went quite a bit better this race.
