Well Shaw has left me to explain how the day went in New Jersey. Well, put bluntly we took 1st and 2nd. The course was just perfect, The pavement very smooth and because of this the lines were very fast. Shaw went into a break for about 5 laps or so and I sat back and monitored the front. Everyone was working for a sprint and because of this, the breaks were going to have a hard time. When things got back together it was pretty much status quo. It would string out for a lap or two and then come back together then string out again etc. During one of the primes Shaw found that he had position at the front and he
attacked and held it to take the prime.
Okay, so, coming into the last lap I got up to the front with Chris and he attacked. I grabbed a bridge of 4-5 guys. When we caught Shaw he took a quick breather, I got on his wheel and he upped the pace again. We dove through the last turn at 30+ mph. Things were totally strung out at this point. I did something that Mike Sherry suggests doing when in the lead with another teammate coming into the sprint. I let Shaw get about 2 bike lengths on me and then I started my kick. The people behind me were gapped as the sprint was flat (my kind of sprint) and Shaw kept powering to the line. I won and Shaw held second! As for the race itself it was awesome. Podium girls, lots of swag for winning etc….
i like the podium girls!
Not bad for a bunch of NYVC "rejects" And Shaw with the top CRCA finish (4th overall) at the Maltese, Chris McC 2nd in the park today at the points race – the results keep coming in. While no one was giving them any respect these guys became the best B team around..<br />

So where are the apologies from anonymous wusses putting these guys down a few months ago? Didn’t they watch the end of "Breaking Away" where the pompous frat boys cheers for the scrappy cutters after they are bested by them?
i’m not sure we’re the best B team (definitely the biggest). plus, before i joined CRCA, i used to use "b-teamers" as an insult.
I highly recommend the Lakewood Crit. it was a great race run by charlie i. the course is beautifully paved, almost a circuit and less of a crit at 1.2 miles. free Wendy’s food and podium girls! plus it was probably only 15 mins to the ocean. a bunch of primes too.
i did the masters right after too with about 2 mins rest. a break went off on lap 2 with every major team in it while i recovered. i tried bridging with one other and we got within maybe 15 meters before they pulled away and it became a training ride for me. i would have done another race if they had let me – i liked the course that much!
The podium girls or the winner? Were the premes for frosty milk shakes?
I’m actually feeling quite light these days. You should have seen me 10 months ago.
Yeah, you really got to hand it to JB. He’s lost about 50 lbs since last Oct/Nov! He’s getting lighter and fitter and everyday & Shaw… well he’s just plain old STRONG these days. Nice job guys and keep up the good work. Look out for these two!
Give it up to the fat guy. Good for JB. Fat guys WIN again…. Why to go… I know how you feel. How do you skinny guys feel…
Nice work fellas – way to bring home the bacon…
MMMM Bacon
Man, you lassies spend a heck of a lot time weighing each other. Shut up & ride faster.
seems to me first place is fast enough….
Is that poium reinforced?
That all depends on who is racing there 5’er.
